Life time award means nothing with PIP. Those that have it on DLA should make the most of it.

That's what concerns me - is it too much of a risk if I did ask for a reassessment and they put me on PIP ?
Is there any on-line independent advice service I can use to ask - before I bite the bullet ?

If you ring the DLA helpline you can ask if you would be reassessed under DLA or PIP. Depending on area it could be either but they can tell you which it is. They will also be able to tell you if they would look at both components. I've just done this myself and would be reassessed under DLA still but they would look at both components.

If only my speech was up to doing this - yes I would do....
This is the reason that I was looking for an email address for DLA !!

50Twuncle. I found this it's a map of the DLA to PIP change over for the whole country. If you're living in the white area you'll be reassessed for DLA if not and you decide to tell them about any changes then it's PIP you'll have to apply for. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/265767/pip-postcode-map.pdf

Thanks - I am all white - but that still doesn't help me find an email address for the DLA section....
Sorry - I know that it is not your fault - but I have been here before - so many times !

I was awarded DLA mid range care component - 6 years ago on a "lifetime award" basis (ie forever - or as long as I live for - whichever comes first)
I am now considering asking for a reassessment - based on my reducing mobility - however, I am assuming that this will be under PIP - Even though there are no plans for PIP in my area !!

I am obviously concerned that they could refuse a mobility claim and even reduce/stop my care component - but have a letter stating "lifetime award"
Should I risk it or apply for it ?
    Any advice please.
How long will I be waiting for a decision/payment ?

This was your original question as stated above. You said you're in the "white" area which means if you tell them about any changes you'll be assessed for DLA not PIP. I have no idea of an email address you can send to but you can always write a letter and send that, making sure you keep a copy of what you send them. You can always type the letter on computer and print it out.

    I note the letter-printing-service I've mentioned before.

    https://www.cfhdocmail.com/index.html

While not a complete solution - wouldn't it be nice if DWP accepted email - the above service can be useful.

Starting at about 40p for a letter, posted, with one sheet of A4.
(I have no connection to the above other than as a user)
  • Hi guys , I'm new to MSE and Need some input. My chap has been on dla for several years and we are just going through the PIP change over process (renewal application is now with dwp decision maker as of 26th November) today We have received correspondence informing us about his Christmas £10.00 bonus. Would this suggest the pip application was successful and we are yet to be officially informed or is the bonus letter automatically generated. We are worried his payments will be revoked under PIPs strict criteria.

Everyone on DLA (and presumably PIP) gets the £10 bonus !!
I am wondering why they bother - £10 is peanuts and the admin costs must be stupid....
I have decided not to go down that route for similar reasons (the potential loss of not only DLA but also CA)
  • Sadly it wasn't our choice to renew we had to give a medical update. We completed the forms and then we had a letter informing us of a face to face assessment which was nerve racking. So now we wait. I was quietly hoping that the Xmas bonus was a sign of a successful PIP application I mean to me it wouldn't make sense to give a bonus if all payments were revoked. I'm grasping at straws as this wait is painful. :)

the christmas vonus is an automatic payment.
the fact that you have a live DLA claim whilst waiting for the PIP decision is enough to trigger the payment
