Erm, what's bad about eating a Picnic! The only bad thing I can see is that I want one now!!!

And I love my ipad :)

Sorry about giving you a hankering

Would I love an ipad as much as I love picnics?

I don't like Picnic's (the chocolate bar, I do enjoy eating sandwiches out of a wicker basket) but as you clearly do like them, I see nothing bad about it either.

And Little Miss Gap has 2 iPads! (one supplied by the school, I should add).

2 ipads! I have read about LMG though, did she squirrel all the money away to buy it herself? She sounds pretty splendid.

I may have talked myself out of the ipad though. I really don't NEED one, and we in such a good position now to start making the dents in the debts, it would be a step backwards. Its just Mr B will want to buy me something and I would rather tell him something to get me that I know I would use than let him get me something that will sit in a drawer. He got me a kobo one year that has sat gathering dust. It was very sweet but I am too tight to buy the books.

Left to his own devices he once bought me a cruet set, once a ships decanter and once a walking stick.

Logging our actual debts. Not quite as high as I originally thought which is good

    MBNA 155 0% December 15

    Halifax 3425 0% April 16

    Barclaycard 6894 0% March 16

    MBNA 2561 0% December 15

    Overdraft 1400

    Overdraft 1800

    Car 8289

    Total £24524

£821 per month for 30 months

I have logged on to all accounts because I wanted to SBT this blooming virgin credit card HOWEVER there are no deals available. This could be because there is still £155 outstanding on the card, but I need a contingency plan just in case. These overdrafts have to be the priority as we pay charges on them every month.

    3 weeks til payday

Money in £1351 available credit in joint account. £350 available credit in another account. £Another £200 to come this month

Payments £830 in general payments. £360 needed for food and petrol.

£700 left over - in theory.

So I think I will squirrel that into the secret account, cancel the overpayments on the credit cards next month to put in the overdraft instead, then use the secret account plus secret account overdraft to pay off the £1400 overdraft.

I once got a sawing horse - I wouldn't have minded, but I was 8 months pregnant at the time

Good Things since I last posted:j
    • Mr B got his fork lift truck training and past his course
    • He also got a 2.3% payrise for this year and for next year. So we think he will get it backdated and get around £400 at Christmas and his wage will increase by about £50 per month. So he will very probably earn more than me.

Bad Things since I last posted :(
    • Have overestimated what extra is to come this month. It might be £50 not £200
    • Massively underestimated what would be needed for trick or treaters last night, and ended going to the local shop to buy treats, spending £10. If we had planned it better it would have cost a lot less
    • Had another £13 takeaway last night
    • Drank half a bottle of wine last night
    • The whole NSD, healthy eating, cutting down alcohol is NOT going very well. Disappointed in myself.
£13.50 cat food, alcohol £16. Takeaway £15. Halloween treats £15, £10 haircut. £10 paint and paintpad

No, I bought her it for her birthday one year. I know it was a lot of money but I had my reasons. She is very good at saving though :) The second one is an iPad mini. The school did a pilot where they gave them out to all the 3rd years. LMG was in 2nd year at the time. The pilot went well so they extended it to include the 2nd years. All I had to pay for was the case (discounted for the school by the supplier).

Hahaaaa! This reminds me of our local radio station, the people on the breakfast show were talking about what the lady had been given by her husband for her birthday/Christmas (can't remember which now) that year.....mudflaps!! :rotfl:

Urgh, no posts from me for 22 days. The reason being that we have decided to finish off the house, so we have ramped up the DIY and its all been/being rather spendy. I think we will be about £1000 worse off when we finish off (we are reflooring/re decorating, fixing radiators and some replastering). With that and Christmas it might be a bit discouraging to post.

So I might just wait and come back in January, fresh and with the finished house and accept the debt will be slow to pay off until then. We have had quite a few positives on the money front, so overall I think it will be around about the same level it is now

Just wanted to post to I didn't feel like I was avoiding the site in shame. But that's it for now. If I don't post again until January, I hope any readers of this and especially the lovely posters, GAP and the rest, have a lovely Christmas

If you need a wee break over the Christmas season then you have one Banwa. You know where we are if you need us. We are not here to judge, just to support. There is no shame here. If you are not back before January then have a good one! :D

    Merry Christmas everybody

Good Things since I last posted:j
    • Mr B has had quite a bit of extra work
    • Mr B got an overtime shift (I think its about £175 extra)
    • My job is going really well and my boss has hinted I might actually got a payrise above inflation this year. I have also had some recognition from some higher-up managers too which I am hoping will come in useful!
    • Mr B has agreed with his ex-wife that the maintenance payments will stop now
    • Work have given me a new iphone (5s). I love it and it has taken away all urges for an ipad
    • Super balance transfer done and 3 overdrafts cleared at last
    • This means all debt is at 0% now apart from car loan at 1.5%
    • The house is pretty much finished. We spent 5 weeks on the hall stairs and landing as we were both at work. New flooring downstairs - some gumtree bargains to finish it off and it all looks so good - I'm delighted with it.
    • Feel like we are in a great place to focus on debt-busting and getting healthy in 2015.
    • Even though we have spent quite a bit over the last few weeks, I feel in control and not at all discouraged

Bad Things since I last posted :(
    • Have completely exceeded our budget.
    • Debt might possibly be at the highest level yet
    • Quite fat
Will post again on New Year Eve with a bit of an action plan
