If he's trustworthy, he's trustworthy - but not just because he works with you.

Scary, you are adding to my worries.

We do work for a completely unrelated company however I don't really know him, and actually he's not my cup of tea. (AND it's not first utility at all but Utility Warehouse).

He tried to sell to us before, this whole, broadband, energy, credit card deal but it sounded really gimmicky and I wasnt sure I could be faffed. It also smacks of pyramid selling (he tried to sign me up as some sort of rep). Now my energy deal has ended with npower I'm interested d saving money on my fuel bills, but nothing beyond that so am dreading the hard sell really

Will let you know how I get on

Have you seen Martin's latest newsletter? See the bit on the cheap energy club before you sign up to anything that might cause you problems  Or even just check out the comparison sites.

    I'd second that.

Well I had checked the comparison sites, which told me First Utility would be about as cheap as npower (there are a couple of others) but I got First Utility and Utility Warehouse mixed up (insert slapping forehead smiley), and contacted the UW guy. When I realised my mistake today I did a quick comparison with UW and npower and I would be £400-ish per year worse off with UW. I cancelled my appointment with the UW guy.

For now I am going to renew with npower as there is no tie in (because my deal runs out on Friday). I have signed up on the MSE thingy now (thanks DawnW :)) and that will give me time to consider my options.

Just think if you hadn't replied to me I would be sat here right now, getting the hard sell on something that would cost me an extra £400 per year

    • Fixed energy tariff with npower til Nov 2015.
    • Gave meter readings and we are £140 in credit. Kept the DD at £130 though, and so we can have the heating on a bit more (we did have the house cold last winter, even though it was quite mild)
    • Mr B has decided now that he DOES like quinoa because he saw it on the Guy Martin programme that it was good for you. I have been telling him that and trying to get him to eat it for ages
    • Lift sharing with Mr B this week, so save £12 there (it all adds up)
    • Mr B gets paid at the higher wage from the beginning of THIS week - hurrah! (I think its nearly an extra £50 a week)
    • Mr B has said he is happy to carry on doing this extra work to try to get this debt down a bit faster.

Bad Things since I last posted :(
    • Still haven't sorted the super balance transfer to pay off the overdrafts
    • Just ate a Picnic bar
Its my birthday in 2 weeks. I really want an ipad. I have a laptop and an ancient iphone so I don't know if I need an ipad. I just want one.

    No new payments.

I don't like Picnic's (the chocolate bar, I do enjoy eating sandwiches out of a wicker basket) but as you clearly do like them, I see nothing bad about it either.

And Little Miss Gap has 2 iPads! (one supplied by the school, I should add).
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
