  • You quoted this: "same sizes fitted across each axle" but didn't realise it meant size?

I must have skimmed read it. Let's leave it at that unless you want to get into a tit for tat battle.

I took that as different brand and/or tread pattern, not size. OP didn't state about size of tyre.

That of course is not a problem at all.

"Crud" doesn't cause spongy brakes. Air in the fluid causes spongy brakes, and is what gets bled out.

I used the meaning in the twofold sense.

One, you can get crud in the system, regardless of air (in fact in case you get pedantic, I'm not linking them at all).

Two, brakes can get spongy and you don't need a full bleed, but a partial bleed is a good thing to do.

It was only last time this week, that I had the front up and the pads out. If you think the car will be perfect with new pads, you're in for a shock.

Also having a look at Eric. He, and his vehicles, are American but some good general stuff on there. Trouble is he's such a pleasant guy that you end up watching all his videos and that's the evening gone.

I'd like to learn to do my brake pads and other things. The amount of times I drive around Europe, I spend a fortune on servicing - sometimes more frequently than the manufacturers frequency as to make sure the car is in tip top condition. I don't want the hassle of breaking down in Eastern Europe or wherever. Plus I'm away again across the pond after the MOT is done so want to make sure the pads have plenty of miles left.
