No, terrible. :o We had sheep early and late. They are slowly chomping through it, but Pete shouldda topped it. The only positive thing I can say is that the coarse, tufty grass which used to dominate, now doesn't, and we seem to have much variety in the species.

I saw a chamomile lawn at Cannington College and wasn't inspired to rush out and make one, but it was still spring. Here, anything I tried to make like that would be full of annual meadow grass before it had had time to take off.

    So it's a new dog? :)

I really want to not take the lawnmower round the front of the house, often at least, especially now the flower beds are getting deeper. And the grass areas more fiddly. I also love the look of non grass green lawns. My ideal would be moss, but I think it's too much to hope for . The chamomile is actually for a particular reason.

Yes, new dog, cute, very sweet natured: much more so than any dog I had for a long time: she is just a nice girl, quite simple and uncomplicated nice and cuddly.

    Off to funeral today. :(

Apparently a blood clot caused the death of our boss, he did fly frequently so likely to have been DVT. He'd had a on/off problem with coughing and breathlessness since a trip to the USA, which some folks say was an indication the clot was on a lung which moved to the heart.

Weather is still more like November than August  Folks along the road from me are having a huge garden makeover, grim work in the pouring rain.

I've decided three plants are going from my garden as they are wastes of space, 2 Siberian iris and a Rosa rugosa which between them managed less than 10 flowers. I'm going to move the giant knapweeds into the spaces, they are doing well but the leaf rosettes are, well, giant :)

Alfie.....Bimble is going to have another playmate when he comes. And she is as busy as him I think. She's what you saw in Lym, and what we talked about and I was laughing you knew them. She's also not got the good manners of Bimble. But she's cute.

    :j :T :rotfl:

lets hope bimble doesn't teach her TOO many "tricks".... are you sure its still ok for him, understand if too much ?

Back from funeral, huge turnout. It was humanist, without any readings or singing but each to their own.

Still tipping down :( However, I've struck 4 cuttings of Lantana camara so will pot them on indoors.

I gave my Dad a humanist send-off and startled some of the family, but we did have music and a couple of us spoke at length about his life. It wasn't a morbid affair.

Most folk seemed to think it was good. Better than a load of dirge-like hymns, or 'modern' ones that bemuse the old folks! :rotfl:

They baled Horse Woman's hay today. 8 big bales from under an acre. Pretty good. Pete dropped in to tell me he's putting a ram in here soon. That's great....I get attacked by Marvin the cockerel quite often these days, and now there'll be another animal to keep half an eye on! :(

I know now that Pete will say "Don't worry, this one be alroight." but he says that about all of them!

Got one of the gas canister powered 'weed wands' off t'Bay, plus 8 canisters.

Tried it out giving the weeds between paving slabs a scorching, they seem to be shrivelling up PDQ so will give another go tomorrow to finish off and get any seeds. If we ever see decent weather, was planning on re-jointing.

My dad had a pressurised paraffin flame-gun he used to clear the vegetable bed, probably illegal now.

Still trying to sell the old car. Taken the hint that everyone commented on the scratched bumpers, so am touching those in and polishing. Honestly, for a £3K car people want perfection!
