Twitter Competition Etiquette

LeanneR

So, I received a PM from a fellow comper a while back to tell me that it's best not to retweet other folk's retweets, but to retweet the original competition posts. Something to do with entries not being valid etc. So I've always retweeted the original comp posts since.
Now I'm noticing that folk are retweeting my retweets and quoted posts. Does this mean that my post/their post doesn't count as an entry?
Help a confused lass out
Thanks xx

Don't think anyone knows the answer to that question.
I'd say if someone is rt'ing your tweet then it probably wont count as it's not the promoters tweet.
Personally, I don't think it invalidates your tweet.
Not sure how it all affects a 'strictly one rt to enter' type comp.
Just tweet them and ask them to stop rt'ing your tweets or if it's the same person just block them.0 -
As they are RTing you, I would guess that it may not count. On my Twitter account, the serious compers never RT me and I am guessing they know what they are doing so I always stick to RTing original posts. I don't spend much time on Twitter comps though so may be wrong.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
always retweet original post.
the comp host looks at the list of people from original post(s) and picks winner from there (under tweet it tells u how many and who retweet/favorit etc)
the original host will not know who has retweeted a different post so will not count anyone else.
so your retweet will count as long as it was from original post - if in doubt go straight to the page it tells you to follow and find post on there.
anyone who retweets your post will not be counted but doesnt affect you.
you can only retweet something once usually so cannot invalidate entry.0 -
This is a very confused issue for many compers but it's really simple and depends on how you've entered yourself
If you retweet the original promotion tweet, and person B retweets this from your feed You are both entered
If you copy and paste your RT's and person B retweets this, Both entries COULD be disqualified
Of course not all promoters disqualify buy it's best not to retweet someone elses original post.0 -
From what I have discovered certain big twitter winners actively ask people to RT their RT's, so it seems to be a free for all.
Fortuna the lovely lass has it right me thinks.
No real idea what works I do a combination of original posts, Rt's and hope for the best, Thursday I had 4 twitter wins, yesterday none, so it's swings and roundabouts.

Also seen your tweets and you do comment to the prize offerer, that must work in your favour too
Although you did RT a NSFW one yesterday :rotfl:
i always RT the original one - only reason is that as both 'might' be disqualified if you RT someone elses0 -

Also, bots tend to "RT@" as they aren't able to retweet the original (i.e. clicking the retweet button), perhaps that's what's happening.0

I always click on the picture assuming that means i'm RT the original post?0
