Alright so I'm at £58, almost an extra 10er in 3 weeks. Fingers crossed it will continue. But I'm scared, having all my money in the bank is actually making me dizzy - I'm just scared they will disappear. I feel bad having so little trust im myself.

At present I have £178.00 in EF.
I get paid monthly so tend to put a percentage in at that point, been doing this for the last 3 months.

It's been a tough, expensive few months and what little I had in my EF has been used up for various emergencies for which it was intended......school shoes falling apart, car wiper blades spontaneously leaving the vehicle mid-motorway, that kind of thing! lol

So seeing as I'm running on empty, I'm calling quits on my financial year. I have 2 more paydays this year and the whole lot (apart from a little bit of food and fuel to visit relatives) will sit in my account and wait for the bills to come waltzing in on the 1st of the month as they inevitably do. I'm pleased to say I've done Christmas (including adding a new puppy to the household 3 weeks ago!) without adding to debt, and so I enter 2020 in a much better financial situation and nowhere near as stressed as I did 2019! I would call that a success. Starting Jan 2nd (1st payday of the new decade) I will be working towards having an EF to be proud of as well as other goals towards my well being and that of my family.

Thanks for the support all and have a peaceful and productive festive season. See you in the new decade!! :D

  • Well done aimeemum on having a good debt busting year. It is hard at times but less stress definitely makes being very careful with money worth it. I’m in a better position myself as this year draws to a close and already making plans on how I can be more frugal in 2020 :j

  • Hello! Please can I join and get a number :)

Not having an emergency fund is what's got me into debt troubles in the past. Building it up won't be fast as my main focus will be on bringing the debts down, but at least I'll also get to see some positive numbers going up!

    Thanks xx
