CBC it sounds like the fan has died. Depending on the laptop, it could be a hard job to get to the fan and replace it, or it could be a 5 minute job.
Replacemant fans range from £20 - £80 depending on the make/model.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks, patman
It's a Dell Latitude but pretty old now (like most of the stuff I rely on every day:o). Worked really well until this but it's really heavy and chunky. Doesn't matter too much as I don't take it anywhere, just use it at home, but when I replace it I'll get a lighter one with a slightly bigger screen.
Am pretty handy at fixing things that go wrong but wouldn't risk anything like replacing a fan in the laptop (and OH is clueless about technology). Would need to take it in to be repaired so the cost might not be worth it. Might look around for a replacement on Black Friday, bite the bullet and dip into my EF:(.0 -
Another couple of payments made to EF today. adds up to £18.84.
I have been adding bits throughout the day as I adjust my budgets and round down accounts etc.
Up to 36.3% :j

Got my car tax through today, so will have £130 to pay out at the end of the month. That has been budgeted for, so no great worries.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hello
First post...hoping this ends up in the right place. Can i please join too? I've been lurking for a few months after realising what a mess we were in, but have finally bitten the bullet to register on the site after my husbands car came out of it's service on wednesday, with a warning of a serious repair which will cost around £800 plus it needs 2 new tyres. We dont have that money. We are having to borrow it from family... again.
So if i may, i would like to start my EF with £6.50 from a sale of a baby toy that was collected today.
Thank you0 -
