That's very true. I know I won't be able to make any major deposits into it until the end of September but it looked sad at zeroLBM July '15: [STRIKE]£34,867.89[/STRIKE] £34,077.59 (1% paid) DFD:[STRIKE]Feb 2020[/STRIKE] April 2019 £2 Savers #129: £8 'Extra payment a week': £0

£70 to pay to the garage today for fitting the replacement con 2000 unit. Even with the £40 cost of the part, it was still £187 cheaper thsn buying the part new, so pleased with that.
First pay day tomorrow (then a month's wait for the next one). Will then wait until next Tuesday for all the monthlies to clear out, then transfer some more to the ef and over-pay on a couple of my debts.Never Knowingly Understood.

Well done to Digging for making a start
Every month I would say "I must start an emergency fund" but never got around to it or did not have much left to put to it. Now its been created I love seeing the "emergency fund" saving pot on online banking and want to try to top it up even with small amounts.NST#14/20 -
Just another small amount of 17p to bring the total to £2.00. But considering I said I couldn't start this challenge until the end of September I'm doing good.LBM July '15: [STRIKE]£34,867.89[/STRIKE] £34,077.59 (1% paid) DFD:[STRIKE]Feb 2020[/STRIKE] April 2019 £2 Savers #129: £8 'Extra payment a week': £0

Hi guys
Well as some of you know I bought a new rust bucket last month which I continue to be delighted with not least because it is economical on petrol.
As for the ef something strange has overtaken me. Since starting this challenge I have always had something in the bank, not always a lot due to mounting car and vet bills. Since buying the car I have been seriously skint nothing to fall back on should I need it. Fortunately I have not needed any extra cash, however the anxiety this has caused has been dreadful so much so that although the washer packed in a few days ago I am reluctant to rush out and replace it as this would leave me without an ef. I think I can cope with the inconvenience of no washer for a few weeks just to keep some money on the bank:eek:
How much more frugal can I get:rotfl:
So thanks for the challenge Patman and the support of my fellow ef'ers:)
Onward and upward

I'm really glad that your car is living up to expectations, so very confused:T. Must be wonderful to have something you can rely on after all the uncertainty and expense of the other one.
I had to smile when I read what you said about not wanting to spend money on a WM and that you'd rather have the EF cushion behind you. I feel exactly the same:j. This challenge has made me think completely differently about what is essential and what isn't and I'm so grateful that I've learned such a valuable lesson, even though it's taken me so long:o. A bank balance, however small, is giving me so much peace of mind:j
Obviously, if a real emergency arose I'd have to dip into it but at the moment it's earmarked as my new car fund (well, new to me anyway but will be someone else's castoff).
Good luck. As you said, it's onward and upward :beer:0
