Would someone explain why a post to download Giveaway of the Day - WinX DVD Ripper Platinum for free has been deleted. It was all legit.

Maybe you could first explain why you posted a "thread deleted" thread when you clearly agreed not to?

They haven't legalised the modern equivalent of making permanent recordings of streamed material though.
Hello kwik one of the things which really annoys me is I have recorded something from Public Service Broadcaster eg BBC/ITV et al on my brand new telly , using e.g. a USB HDD/Stick and then move said USB device from my Telly to my same branded TV in my kitchen/bedroom and it won't play. I pay my TV license and ergo I should have access to that content anywhere in my domain. I could of course record said content on to my VHS recorder and eject the tape and watch upstairs without problems....except I don't have a VHS m/c upstairs and it's very poor SD reproduction. I could go on but no one can be rrrsed to chivvy their politicians because said politicos have to worry about next years elections.

I'd say that your understanding must be wrong then as all commercial CDs contain copy protection (which was cracked pretty much as soon as CDs appeared as was the copy protection for DVDs). To copy them at all that copy protection has to be circumvented.

Straight from the IPO's own leaflet:
Is this just about CDs, or can I also copy films, e-books etc?

The exception applies to any copies you have bought, other than computer programs. So, for example, it allows you to format shift an ebook you have bought from one device to another for your own private use. However, you should note that media, such as DVDs and e-books, can still be protected by technology which physically prevents copying and circumvention of such technology remains illegal.

Fair enough. In that case they've legalised something impossible. Bit like saying you can now travel to work on a flying carpet without paying road tax.

Truth be told this is all a nonsense. I'll guarantee that milions have been and will continue to rip CDs and DVDs for use on their mobile devices regardless of legality. I've never heard of a prosecution for this either.

Incidentally the lifetime of this thread which is indeed contrary to forum T&C leads me to believe that the original got deleted because it was marked as spam by the ignorant assuming a new poster pointing out a freebie must be a spammer. Shame on them.

Because it is all part of the basic posting guide that the OP clearly agreed to have read and understood in order to complete their signup.

There is no excuse whatsoever for saying they didn't know.
