Quite correct. I downloaded it about an hour ago and it works fine. You actually have to go to the Win X DVD Ripper webpage to get the activation code after you have downloaded the file from 'Giveaway of the day', where they give you the option of the 'paid' version which includes updates etc. All totally legit.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

Maybe because it's software that could be used to infringe copyright, so MSE follow their usual scaredy-cat approach and delete such threads?

I suspect the board admins wouldn't know that the law has recently changed making this ENTIRELY LEGAL now (woop woop!)
Which is great for me; I backup my DVDs to ISOs so when the kids scratch them up, i can create an exact copy of the original.
Just tried this app and it worked great0 -
It's possible that somebody reported it as spam and others agreed. Once several hit the button stuff gets automatically removed.
GAotD do a daily newsletter which is worth subscribing to if only 1 in a dozen or more offers are interesting to you. You do need to remember to uninstall stuff if it turns out to be no good to you or you end up with a pile of clutter. You can't transfer to other machines later either unless what you installed was a portable version as the downloads only work on the day.0 -
From my understanding, yes, it is perfectly legal to make a backup of a DVD, but...ringo_24601 wrote: »I suspect the board admins wouldn't know that the law has recently changed making this ENTIRELY LEGAL now (woop woop!)

...it is still illegal to circumvent any copy protection that maybe present. And I'm willing to bet that this is just what this software does.0 -
I'd say that your understanding must be wrong then as all commercial CDs contain copy protection (which was cracked pretty much as soon as CDs appeared as was the copy protection for DVDs). To copy them at all that copy protection has to be circumvented.0

Maybe mention of dvd ripper gave cause for concern. Give away of the day have lots of useful software for PC, Iphone/pad, Android phones/tabs. They just don't put free programs up because they will rip cds/dvds. I've found them to be quite handy. And as the progs are free, deffo MSE. I also use Gizmo's for all the freeware they offer.

It's legal now to make personal copies of CD's and DVD's you bought, I saw the news a few days ago too. Though, to be honest I assumed it already was before, who never copied tapes, or taped songs off the radio when the charts were on (if you're above a certain age)?0
