Collecting Motability car

We did not deal with the main mobility adviser at our dealership as he was off when we first went. The salesman we dealt with did offer to come and collect us and bring us to the dealership, although we made our own way there.
He also said that when it came to servicing we could either arrange for them to collect the car from home or bring it down and we'd have a courtesy car.
I think it does depend on the dealership. The owner of the first dealership we went to see just went on about how much hassle mobility cars are to him so we thought we'd save him the aggro of selling a car.0 -
With all due respect, the money that you are receiving from your DLA/PIP is to help you in situations such as this (you are unable to use public transport due to your disability etc). Get a taxi

Thanks for the great advise, but with all due respect don't you think I know that, however we can't as motability are keeping the element of mobility until we take delivery of our new car(as its to much hassle for them to keep sending us a cheque every week/fortnight) and then they will pay us everything back, but again thanks.0 -
So don't get a Motability car, keep the cash for yourself and buy your own (and pay for the adaptations and insurance).bigbulldog wrote: »Thanks for the great advise, but with all due respect don't you think I know that, however we can't as motability are keeping the element of mobility until we take delivery of our new car(as its to much hassle for them to keep sending us a cheque every week/fortnight) and then they will pay us everything back, but again thanks.
I'm not saying Motability is right or wrong here but jeez, if you don't like it, don't use it.0 -

I'm really after your opinions as I have been advised I we will need to use the train to collect my car as they cannot provide anyone to come and collect us.
Distance from my home to the dealership is 17 miles and to get to the train station I have to walk up two really steep hills and tbh I cannot walk unassisted for more than 100 yards and that is a struggle they know I do not have a car as this was written off after an accident (not my fault btw) plus I now no longer drive (the dealership already know) and yes my husband can take me,but then he has to leave his car at the dealership and drive my car home plus he would have to ask a friend to take him back up to the dealership to collect his own car.
Am I expecting to much however I'm pretty sure that if I was a private buyer spending xyz they would be saying what time would liked to be collected.
Am I missing the obvious here? Husband drives you to the station. you both get the train. drive home. get a taxi/lift to the station to collect the other car.0 -

good for you... The owner of the first dealership we went to see just went on about how much hassle mobility cars are to him so we thought we'd save him the aggro of selling a car."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

OP, can I ask why you are getting a new car if you can no longer drive and you husband has a car? Just curious, not criticising, I have a friend who has a motability car who can't drive and I honestly think she would be better off and under less stress if she didn't have it.
Glad the dealer is being more helpful.0
