Collecting Motability car

Hi,

I'm really after your opinions as I have been advised I we will need to use the train to collect my car as they cannot provide anyone to come and collect us.

Distance from my home to the dealership is 17 miles and to get to the train station I have to walk up two really steep hills and tbh I cannot walk unassisted for more than 100 yards and that is a struggle they know I do not have a car as this was written off after an accident (not my fault btw) plus I now no longer drive (the dealership already know) and yes my husband can take me,but then he has to leave his car at the dealership and drive my car home plus he would have to ask a friend to take him back up to the dealership to collect his own car.

Am I expecting to much however I'm pretty sure that if I was a private buyer spending xyz they would be saying what time would liked to be collected.

  • Have you made the dealership aware of the issues that you have with collecting the car? I'm not sure that they are correct in asking this of you under your circumstances - you could always give Motability a call and check.

We have a WAV and our car was delivered to us, it was never even mentioned that we should collect it - maybe it is different for a WAV as there are fewer dealers.?

  • I think your dealership is being extremely unhelpful. It would not be any big deal to drop the car off to you considering your circumstances. I would contact Motability for help.

Why can't you get a taxi from the station? No, as a private buyer, they would be unlikely to come and pick you up from home.
  • With all due respect, the money that you are receiving from your DLA/PIP is to help you in situations such as this (you are unable to use public transport due to your disability etc). Get a taxi :)
  • Speak to your dealer again. The Motability dealers I have been speaking to have all said they would either collect me or bring the car to me if I couldn't get to them. I've also been told (by 4 different dealers all about the same distance away from me as yours) that when the car needs servicing, etc, they are also willing to collect it from me. Good luck and enjoy your new car.

Hi,they have been made aware of the circumstances since 11/08/14,so as I knew our salesperson has his day off today.

I then contacted the sales manager today who could not be more helpful and it has now been arranged however he was not impressed by what the salesperson said and would be having a word with him.

So what your suggesting is that I get to the station once at my destination I then get a taxi to the dealership..how do I get to the station in the first place I suppose you'll suggest get a taxi to the station.......cost is not an issue, but why should I have to pay £36 in fares and not shy of 90 minutes getting there, when they would come and collect the car anyway when it needs servicing.

Compared to there costs which would be 2.5 litres of petrol/diesel and 40 to 50 minutes of time to travel

Good news is that they have arranged to come and collect us.

That is very good customer service.:)

I do believe the motability sales guy we used just cannot be bothered and when we have gone to see him he comes across a real drip and his product knowledge is also really poor.
