Vent : When did the Post Office stop changing bagged coins for notes ?

Following on from my first post I did go to my local bank branch, Nationwide, who had a 5 bag limit per day due to the size of the branch vault.
What I though was a bit funny is and I quote "if your account is in credit you can only pay in 5 bags of coins per day but if you are overdrawn you can pay in as many as you like".
I though it a bit weird that if I was overdrawn this somehow changes the size of the vault......
They did take all the bags of coins from me for which I gave them many thanks.:T"Silence, Reverend Supermarket"0 -

Saying that they are loosing money because the more money & longer time I am overdrawn the more they get in interest & charges :rotfl:"Silence, Reverend Supermarket"0 -

What their bowels do when someone realises they've made an @rse of themselves by creating a thread like this?0 -
It makes me laugh that the OP's first complaint is about the fact they had to queue for 20 minutes.
They then appear to have occupied one of the cashiers for a significant amount of time arguing about the fact they wouldnt change his cash. I imagine this really annoyed anyone else in the queue!
It amazes me you expect them to provide this service. There is absolutely no benefit to the post office in changing your cash to notes. They're a business so why should they provide this free service?
You must have a bank account so go to your bank and ask them to pay it in.0 -
Post office branches (often franchises) keep themselves a good balance of appropriate coinage for day-to-day business. If someone comes in with £200 of copper, that's not useful to them for day-to-day business, won't fit in the safe, and so has to be 'banked' - with them paying for the privilege (business banking is certainly not free). Swapping notes for coins isn't a right, it's a PITA for someone to have to pay to deal with your desires.
Instead, how about you use the coins slowly, pay for stuff at the supermarket a couple of quid at a time with them?0 -

...............
BTW the money was saved as my wife & myself go away twice a year for a long weekend in May, (the month of our anniversary), & October, (the month of my wife's birthday).
I wonder what is the connection between 1 and 2 paragraph?
Honest question, please tell?0
