Can you not change the lighting in the area?in my local town conveniences the lights are ultra violet to deter shooting up etc.
UV light stops someone seeing a vein...?!
How does that work then?
And if it's only UV light, how do you know it's there?
Are you a bee?
I think you mean blue light, since veins are blue and all that....0 -
Great plan. Keep yourself to yourself, don't even attempt to get to know your neighbours, totally ignore any community spirit that might already exist, or that has potential to exist. Move away from problems rather than get together with others to try and solve them (or at least in this case move them somewhere else!)
Its no wonder that some areas are left to rot when there are people with your attitude Cautious Optimist!
Speak to neighbours definitely.
I would always advise getting to know your neighbours.
I'm sure they will want to tackle the problem and may have already tried.
But from personal experience, I would say the police and council will be as much use as a chocolate teapot.
If you mention CCTV they'll probably just drone on about privacy legislation etc.
All they care about is collecting your council tax.0 -
As you are speaking to other tenants might it be possible to cost up a better lock and the cost of removing any needles and ask everyone to contribute? £100 is a lot to find if you are on a budget but £20 each from five flats might be more manageable for everyone, for instance. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0

wait for the junkies to turn up with a hosepipe and spray them till they are !!!! wet through,
do it again and again -they will get the message and find simpler places to do it0 -
Do not attempt to remove it yourself. Do you really want to risk pricking yourself with an HIV infected needle?! Jeez... it's not worth that.
Jx
It's a moot point but there's really minimal risk of HIV from discarded used needles, the real risks are from Hepatitis B and C. If a needle is contaminated there's a 30% risk of contracting Hepatitis B if you injure yourself with it.0 -

Something similar happened to one of my friends, except it was youths that all hung out in the corridor drinking and smoking so she had to push past them when she left her flat.
It was a private block too. I think she (unwisely) used to challenge them. The police werent interested and it wasnt until she marshalled the neighbours that they stopped getting in.
Turned out someone was just buzzing everyone in who rang the buzzer.
I dont think they were evil, just bored.0 -

It might be worth going back to the police and asking to speak to a crime prevention design officer. There is a lot of research on how to tackle situations line this, you need to tap into it.0
