May be NICE to get a TY note, but not essential. The day is for the lucky couple.
How sad.
I thought the day was about sharing your happiness with your friends and family.0 -
If i said thanks on the day i wouldn't send a thank you note afterwards as well.0

Quite a few people I know have used an official photo on their thank you cards - if they're waiting to get those back it might be what's causing the delay?
That said, our guests will be getting thank you cards, largely because we mostly asked for vouchers/cash/US dollars so I want to tell people what we did with their gift. Plus even if you thank people as part of the speeches I think it's nice to send a card as it's a bit more personal, and you may not get to see everyone on the day."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I was meant to send thank you cards but about 11 days after the wedding my mum was diagonised with cancer and with one thing and another it just fell by the way side.
I have never asked but I hope people weren't too dissapointed and upset with me but it just totally slipped my mind I still feel so guilty about it as some people were really generous.
If that hadn't have happened I was all set to order my cards to say thank youFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
you have up to a year to send them per etiquette.
I'd not care if the thanks arrived a year late, as long as I got something acknowledging we did get them something and they didn't just overlook the card/gift.0 -
We said "thanks" on the day to those we knew had given us gifts, then sent TY cards to everyone who gave gifts, and then a year later on our honeymoon we sent TY postcards to everyone who gave us the Thomas Cook vouchers that paid for it.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

We didn't get any gifts from our friends, just a handful of family members so thank you cards were easy. Pack of ten from the card shop, job done.0

I've been married nearly 18 months now won't it be a bit off?
It's kind of a double edge sword isn't it? If I don't send them I feel guilty if I send them now it might just confuse peopleFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I would send them. You can put in the note a brief apology and explanation for the delay.
Personally I would far rather get a thank you late, than never. No thank you at all is rude. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
