I don't think Wonga ever actually sold any debts on, at least not small ones. They got into trouble for sending letters from fake collection agencies to scare customers into paying.
This may have changed more recently so check out your own situation. But it's likely that the letters from collection agencies are actually from Wonga and were lying to you.0 -

I have received 2 different emails from Wonga yesterday in response to me querying my outstanding loan. The first email said the debt had been legally assigned to Gothia, the second said it was assigned to Portfolio Recovery Associates. Both emails say they cannot help further and I need to contact the companies directly.0 -
ok, i have received an email saying my debt will be cleared to zero by the end of the month, so they are sending them out now:j0

Also got an email telling me the debts wiped, im more than happy about this however as ive made repayments on this loan will they get looked into i wonder, if they dont im still £700 better off but it would be nice0

So, I had a loan a couple of years ago, and haven't logged in since.
Was 250 plus interest etc etc, and it's been bouncing around their debt collection fir about 18 months, was in a motorbike accident about 15 months ago, so nothing not a priority had been on the back burner. On my credit file it shows as £541 owing in total.
Just logged in and my account balance is zero?
Is this because it was passed to debt collection / sold on, or because it was written off?
No longer have the email fir the account, was a domain email account, so I won't get emails about thus from wonga, and I can't change the email as I don't remember the bank account number used for it, have slapped and changed accounts a year or so ago.0 -
£1393 written off this evening0

i had made repayments too, but its judged on how many days in arrears the original loan is in, it has to be over 30 for them to wipe it clear0

I logged in too & mine still says the outstanding amount and number of days due0 -
no email for me yet but my daughter had an email this evening wiping the debt off. I believe it can be tonight and tomorrow to receive a email.0
