If you can't keep the account between the £4000-£5000 sweet spot throughout the month

Not absolutely strictly correct. On those days in any month where you did have between 4 and 5k in the account you would earn 4%.
  • As a member of staff you may qualify for reduced price for paid for accounts and the turnover required may be different too.

I've had to deal with their customer service numerous times over the last 2 months and I personally think they're second to none.

Obviously the fact I've had to deal with them so much is a negative on the bank itself (a whole host of problems occurred during a transition from an old credit card to a new one), but the £100 in compensation payments I've received for a total of 2 hours on the phone certainly makes up for it!

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.

I'm going to be working in the IT department of Lloyds. Frankly - when i was still a student, i opened a bank account with Barclays after trying to decide which bank to go with. I think Lloyds was the first one declined because of all the stories i've heard about the customer service being so bad. And it has partly paid off cos Barclays have been nice to me.

Now that I need one for a staff account - i have no other choice. Good thing is because Lloyds merged, i can go with Halifax or [STRIKE]RBS[/STRIKE] BOS (but Lloyds seems the most rewarding - particularly the Club account). I will look into the TSB for an account.

Everyone in the post - I'm aware of the amount needed to get the sweet spot. Frankly - apart from TSB, i haven't seen a savings account or etc pay this generously yet. Once again - i've heard horror stories of Santander as well hence why i haven't gone with them. This is why i thought the Lloyds club account seemed so generous (plus once again, their club savers give 4% annually).

    Do have a question though:

GingerFurBall - How sure are you of that? If that is the case i'd pretty much jump into that bank account straight away.
  • Ps - as far as it says on my bank account, it says i need to open that bank account myself. I'll give them a ring to ask, but as far as i know there isn't any pre-made account for me

Why do you think RBS is part of the Lloyds banking group, when its not?

Perhaps you're thinking of Bank Of Scotland which is part of the Lloyds Banking group.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

Sorry my bad, yes Bank of Scotland. Got my facts a bit wrong.

Ps - GingerFurBall, you are indeed correct. If you're an employee the fee is decreased. Thanks for that information.

I think i will take that Current Account guys, thank you for your help!

You are listening to too many stories. Lloyds and Santander both have perfectly good accounts and customer service. Both also have accounts that are way better than Barclays or Natwest, to mention but a couple.

All banks will be 'nice' to customers who are 'nice' to them and stick to the T&Cs of whatever accounts they take out. But don't think it's about having a warm relationship with your bank - they are a business who provides a service and needs to make a profit.

Would a upgrade from a vantage account need another credit search as part of the application.

I want to know this too and also if an upgrade affects the 'age' of the account. Eg account opened in 2010, if I upgrade the account will it show as being opened in 2010 still or 2014?
