What we are saying is that it's ridiculous to expect alcohol bought airside and placed in a carry on bag to be safe if that bag has to be put in the hold on boarding.0 -
But you don't have to. Neil post no 7 explains that you can still take a small bag into the cabin to fit under your seat even if larger bags are made to go in the hold.
I didn't say you did have to. I'm saying that if you decide to put it in a cabin bag that ends up in the hold there's a fair chance it won't still be intact when you collect the bag.0 -
bags are selected to be put in the hold at the boarding gate without prior warning, anything you have in your cabin bag that you needed for the flight[books, snacks etc] need to be removed but what if you have a netbook or laptop in your bag,bit of local pottery for the mother in law for example or indeed anything breakable?I'm not complaining about the bags going into the hold as it clearly states on Ryanairs website it may happen,it's the dropping of the bag from the door to the runway that I was commenting on.if anybody thinks this is acceptable then they live by different standards to me.
By the way I have no intrest in who Ryanair use as their handling agents,my contract is with Ryanair and if their appointed agents damage my property then I will claim from Ryanair,it's up to them if they want to contracharge the handling company.0 -
You miss the point - the implication in your rant was that this only happened because you were flying Ryanair. The reality is it would happen with any airline flying out of Palma.0

You CANT put liquids in general hold luggage.......if you happen to have liquids bought airside then that is allowed in the hold should the airline want your hand luggage in the hold.........so whats all that Greece nonsense........Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0
-
you CAN put liquids over 100ml in hold luggage, liquids over 100ml are not allowed through security in hand luggage,do people just make it up as they go along on here?0

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

so everyone agrees with you that this is unacceptable.
we reckon this is commonplace at Palma.
What are you going to do about it?
- carry on as if it isn't happening, put a couple of litres of booze in the bag, have it broken, rant and rave, go through the hassle of trying to claim some money off someone?
- OR use common sense and grab the carrier bag and take it in the cabin with you? And b r e a t h e, and enjoy the flight, as far as any cheap-and-nasty airline can be enjoyable. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
