PPI is Payment Protection Insurance which covers loan, credit card or mortgage payments in the event of involuntary unemployment or being incapacitated due to illness.Clerical & Medical Permanent Health Insurance, is this a PPI
Health Insurance is completely different.
The two are unrelated insurances.
You can complain about any insurance if it was mis-sold to you. You do have to have valid reasons to do so.
I fail to see how you could make such a valid case, however.
1982 was thirty-two years ago.0 -

PHI policies were designed to pay an income in the event of long term illness preventing an individual from working/earning a living. It is not for covering the cost of medical care.
If the OP believes they were mis-sold then there is no time limit even if it is a long time ago. The only limit is based on when they ought reasonably to have become aware of the problem or reason for dis-satisfaction0 -
PPI pays an income in the event that you cannot meet loan repayments due to illness, redundancy etc PHI pays a replacement income, usually designed to replace a proportion of your income in the event of long term illness or injury preventing you from working they are similar in many aspects.

only greed is spurring the OP to post about something that still isnt a PPI policy 32 years later.0 -
which it wasnt.

Well the written word is ambiguous - that we know.
My reading of the OP is one asking a question. It may not be PPI and there may be no claim whatsoever - and that can be answered with clarity. Assumptions are different.0 -
is this a PPI
No.if so can I make a claim
Only if you are ill. Or do you mean you want to make a complaint? If the OP believes they were mis-sold then there is no time limit even if it is a long time ago.
Yes there is. This is a 1982 case and pre-dates financial services regulation. It would have to have been sold by an agent of Clerical Medical for CM to accept liability for pre-regulation cases. Most Clerical Medical stuff, if not all, was sold via IFAs, accountants and solicitors who only became regulated in 1988.
Which sounds like excellent advice. Permanent Health insurance policies are considered a cornerstone of any protection insurance. Well done for following that advice.Took it out along with an C&M endowment and Halifax mortgage in 1982 -I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). We have no idea if this was good advice or not because we don't know anything about the OP's circumstances at the time.0

You rarely come across anyone who doesnt have a financial need for a PHI policy. Most employers cease paying within 12 months.
However, none of it matters as its not PPI, its pre-regulation from a company that only had used IFAs, accountants and solicitors as its source.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). We can probably guess they were neither immune to illness nor invulnerable not immortal and that a 25 year mortgage wouldn't pay itself.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Completely and utterly irrelevant to the transaction. There was a possible miss sale due to contract irregularities in the case of Antonio v Shylock................addedvaluebob wrote: »We have no idea if this was good advice or not because we don't know anything about the OP's circumstances at the time.0
