Our letting agent is harassing our tenants

            I have now received a reply to my letter instructing the letting agents that I am sacking them. They state that in order for to do this I need to:
* Confirm in writing that I wish to end the agreement AND get my tenants to confirm this in writing too;
* Agree that the date should fall in line with my "current contract" – since the tenants moved in on 1st December 2011 the termination of contract would come into effect from 30 November 2014
* Get my tenants to confirm that they are happy to release their references to me (because of data protection laws) as well as the security deposit, which I have 30 days to re-register after the tenancy agreement passes to me
* And confirm in writing that I do not wish to have a checkout done when the tenants eventually move out of the property.
I don't really care about the references (our tenants are very responsible) nor do I want the lettings agent to do the checkout. But do they have a leg to stand on with their other requests? I don't see why the tenants should have to confirm that they want to end the agreement – as the landlords, we're the ones who hired the letting agents!0 -
            It is still not clear what "agreement" the agent thing is in place. Your previous posts implied the initial contract was "tenant find" only. Have you still got it?
In any case the T certainly are not party to any contract you have with the agent so there is no way their permission can be required.
I would reiterate my previous advice. Get the deposit from them and then ignore everything else. They are clearly numpties.0 -

If they were acting as your agent when they gathered the references, I believe the references already belong to you and so no further permission is required.0 -

So you need your tenant's permission on how to deal with your employees? These guys are having a laugh.
If they collect the rent, the very first thing to do is to write to your tenant telling then to pay directly to you from now on.
Then you can deal with these guys.0
