loan with no guarantor

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is anywhere I can get a loan for approx £2000 with non perfect credit rating and no guarantor?

I am in a situation where I need the additional money for a medical procedure (sport injury that I have been unsuccessful to get treated through the NHS) and I do not want to risk start applying for loans and get refused.

Ideally somewhere I can get a loan which offers reasonable monthly repayments.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why have you been unsuccessful getting it done via the NHS ?
  • my non perfect credit history is just because I was refused a loan a few years ago (which I am not sure why) possibly because I lived in my over draft and got a number of charges in my younger days, since then I have had 3 cars on finance deals for many years and never missed a payment, I don't have an overdraft facility on my bank account now and I never go into the red.

I have been unsuccessful through the NHS because it is supposedly a "rare" injury and it has taken me two years going to different hospitals and seeing different surgeons and still I am nowhere. I have since researched and discovered that there is a specialist private clinic where I can pretty much get the surgery done instantly which is important as I am 25 year old athlete.
  • Are you a professional or semi-professional athlete? Would your sponsors pay for it if so?

You could apply for a 0% on purchases for X months credit card. There's a pre-eligibility checker on MSE somewhere that you could use to determine how likely you'd be to get accepted before committing yourself to a full application and credit check.

Do you know where you're going to have the treatment carried out? Some private hospitals offer repayment plans rather than having to pay for treatment in one lump sum.
  • If you've already waited so long to get it sorted through the NHS, surely it wouldn't hurt to save up for a few months and pay it?
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

What makes you think there is an issue on your credit files? Being declined for a single loan a few years ago won't show on your credit file at all.

Have you tried applying for this loan with your own bank or a high street lender and been turned down?

Presumably you are employed/earning currently? Are you on the electoral roll? When you suggest 'reasonable' monthly repayments - how much have you worked out you could afford a month?

Thebritishbloke - It would take longer than a few months to save up for the full amount and im sure you can appreciate I have already thought through my options hence my original queries.

Tixy - Thanks for the useful input, I don't have alot of evidence that there will be an issue with my credit score to be honest just that loan being declined and after that I was refused an overdraft with my previous bank, since being with the halifax (for 3 years now) I have been faultless. Yes I am full time and on the electoral roll, when i say reasonable in an ideal world I would not want to pay more than £100 per month.

Oh and I haven't yet applied for a loan anywhere because I want to find the best place that will give me the best chance of obtaining one, I don't want to apply to anywhere due to the fear of being refused and that affecting me getting one at all.
