Sample prices beer 10TL................how much?
6tl for a large bottle of effes at uncle festers in gumbet, comes with a ice cold chilled glass0 -
benjus as per post every withdrawal I've made over the past month has levied a 4% charge irrespective of bank used clearly shown as being charged by the Turkish bank eg this week I used Denizbank here, I got my requested 850Tl, was charged 884TL and the receipt clearly shows the bank's charge of 34TL/4%. Almost zero charge from UK courtesy of Halifax. So, again, a wad of UK pounds is the way to go with change shops only offering marginally less than banks exchange rate wise.
Saint_Chris, yeah, 6TL is still possible here too - but it's ullage! Cheapest unopened bottle of Efes I've seen in a restaurant is 8.5TL and the most expensive has been 12TL0 -

Was only 3TL two years ago! Like other posters, take minimum TL and take sterling to change there, if they are advertising 3.50tl to the £ in the UK I would expect to get 3.64tl+ in resort.0 -
Change up about £50 into lira and then withdraw lira from the ATMs. You can use sterling for large purchases and trips but lira for everything else. Definitely no euros.0

Take sterling notes ( Not Scottish though ) 3.66 = £ 1 here today0

why do ATMs give pounds but not euros?
surely if you go round paying in foreign currency you're going to be charged extra?0
