I would exchange the minimum amount needed for when you get there and take sterling for the rest, you will usually get a better rate changing it once you arrive in Turkey.

And don't let anyone talk you into buying €uros.0 -
Dependent on where your going in turkey, most tourist areas have ATM s which give you gb pounds at no charge, then exchange them locally for lira.
You'll get a much better rate than you can get in the uk. I wouldn't take any lira with me at all just my debit card.0 -

Not all atms give you English money, there is deffo a few in gumbet that don't.0

Just follow the usual advice for almost all countries - get a fee-free card (e.g. Halifax Clarity) and use it to withdraw local currency in ATMs.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Be careful using stand-alone ATMs. If it eats your card or dispenses the wrong amount, then you're up the creek.0

It may depend where you're going - Kalkan is really expensive whilst I imagine the Syrian border is cheaper than chips at the moment.0

Is this the ATM charging the 4%, or your bank? Which card are you using? Which bank operates the ATMs?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
