Choosing New PC

Hi

My 7 year old PC has is now defunked. Graphics gone and its not a replaceable card. I use the PC one day a week (work from home) using Word, Excel and Email. The rest of the time it just used for surfing the web and downloading photo from our camera. The kids occasionally play on football manager and the sims.

I have been looking this week and have come up with these and would love your comments or suggestions:

The third option was simply because it has Windows 7. OH has recently switched to Windows 8 at work and is not very happy with it but he will only occasionally be using it.

We already have a monitor (also 7 years old also) which is working fine but I am open to package options.

Thanks in advance :)

If it's not a replaceable card, you can add a replaceable card, from £20.

I would be very interested to hear more NiftyDigits. I assumed as it was an integrated chip there was nothing I could do about it.

When you add a gfx card, it bypasses the onboard gfx chip...

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Need a model number. It will be at the back.

Perhaps you can also take a picture of what you think is the existing card.

The PC is a Medion PC MT7. I thought it was integrated graphics but I maybe wrong (we have two medion pcs might be confusing them). I have added a photo showing the inside of the casing. Only thing that is clearly visiable is that it is man MSI motherboard:

    Thanks

That is only a partial model number.

A full one would be MT7 MED MT448G.

That is a picture of the Graphics card. To remove it, you would first have to remove the screw that holds it to the outside casing and also unplug that connection from the black lead.

There may also be an alternative option to bypass the Graphics card, by booting into the BIOS setup and choosing the option of the Onboard graphics. Then just plugging the monitor into the alternative VGA connection. This should work, but then the PC will be rubbish at playing games. Easily remedied by replacing the Graphics card for perhaps £40 for one better than the original.

A relatively simple fix and it will be better than when new. Though if you are still using a seven year old CRT monitor, I would definitely invest £100 to £130 in a 24" IPS monitor in order to take advantage of the graphics.

Thats great to hear NiftyDigits :j.

The full model number is Medion PC MT7 Med MT487G.

I have tried logging into the Bois but cannot see where to change to vga as this is the image I can see:

I went into advanced setting but cannot read it enough to be confident what to change.

Do you have any suggestions asto which graphics would suit this system?
