Is there anyway I can stop the few stairs that squeak, from squeaking? it's the first 2 steps then the top 2 steps and little 'landing' before the top 2 steps. The house was built 1970's

First of all, can you 'get at' the stairs? Or are they concealed under carpet?
Can you lift any stair, or wriggle any riser (the bit that gets kicked if you don't hoist your foot high enough?)
I was taught to rub squeaky wood with soap or a candle, but if the problem is wood bowing then it's a structural thing & needs a wedge not lubrication. Pizza box time? Slide in slices of pizza box (the thin card frozen pizza comes in, not the corrugated hot delivered ones - for clarity!) until the squeak stops or you get bored?
And if sourcing cardboard is a challenge I believe there's a Dr.Oetker deal on at present so select Which Bit of pizza box With Care. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/deals-hunter/2014/09/16/loophole-buy-1-50-frozen-pizza-get-unlimited-free-pizzas-till-5-oct/ has the details.0
