What happens if you have an old car, which is VED and MOT exempt?
Do you still have to go through the motions of taxing it?

Presumably yes. The only changes are how to pay and not receiving a paper disc.0

If the car is pre-1973, you don't pay.
If it's pre-1960, you don't need an MOT either.0 -

That wasn't the question.
Odds are you still need to do it, but the DVLA will be able to tell you for sure. The campaign against overpowering signatures0 -

Actually, if you look back to my OP, you'll see that was the question I asked.0 -

From 1st April 2014, all 1973 vehicles don't need to pay either.
It's going to be a rolling exemption from 1st April 2015.0 -
Is the MOT exemption, also going to be a rolling one?0

Never noticed it anywhere, had a wee google and found this though.

Looks like there will be more changes in 2018.0 -
If its zero rated you don't pay and less than 3 years old a mot's not needed. The likely choices are tax it with whatever that involves or sorn it.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »If the car is pre-1973, you don't pay.

I wasn't talking about new cars.
On the contrary, I was talking about old cars (pre-1960), which are currently eligible for a free tax disc, as well as being exempt from the MOT.0 -
The whole process is the same, except you don't get a piece of round paper.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »I wasn't talking about new cars.

So, yes, you will still need to "tax" it once a year.0
