Talk Talk vs BT BB speed

I'm currently with BT (non fibre BB) I get about 3-4mb download, I'm considering moving to TalkTalk, the TalkTalk speed checker states I'd get 2mb download. Whats the likelyhood that with TalkTalk I'd retain roughly the same speed as BT ?
Also, once the TalkTalk BB is installed am I covered by the cooling off period incase the TalkTalk speed is rubbish ?

BT and TalkTalk will have their own methods of predicting your download speeds, but generally they will be the same once live. I'd say the TalkTalk estimate is a bit conservative.Tyler_Durden_UK wrote: »Also, once the TalkTalk BB is installed am I covered by the cooling off period incase the TalkTalk speed is rubbish ?
The 'cooling off' period is in effect as soon as your order is placed/accepted, not when your service goes live.
The idea is not so much about the speed but in case you change your mind (ie you find a better deal elsewhere after you felt pressured to accept an offer on the phone).0 -
My experience of TT was that speed improved once i left them and went to another ISP .0

You may have been on ADSL Max with BT which is a maximum of up to 8meg.
Talk Talk use ADSL2+ in their LLU network which has a larger footprint than BT's own ADSL2+ coverage0 -

No, most TT subscribers are on LLU, and they charge a swinging rate for non-LLU service. No free lunch, and no free laptop
