I've has this problem for 3/4 months. Fed up on phoning them so I have started the switch to EDF. (It worked out cheaper anyway!)

I kept getting "Read Implausible". Added the leading 0's and it was the same. Also, the previous meter reading was a digit short! Even tried the app which just refreshed the page when I pressed submit.

Switch to someone else - you may even find a cheaper deal!

Ring their 0800 number and ignore completely all instructions - and wait - a human will answer within two minutes.

I must have a dodgy phone!
  • I have no idea what you are talking about, your two rate meter looks like this, taken from my account two minutes ago :
    icku1ye.png

    - you put your new 5 digit night readings in the empty box's on the top one
    - and your new 5 digit day readings in the empty box's on the bottom one
    - then click submit

Ring their 0800 number and ignore completely all instructions - and wait - a human will answer within two minutes. If you are seeing anything different to the above picture I have no idea where on the internet you are - but you are not on the SP site.
thanks for your cynical respone ,but after getting through to them after 47 mins , the adviser told me it takes 35 days for my new meter to be registered and that is why it's showing 8 DIGITS .
I also asked how my claim for compensation was going after taking 2 half days off of work to have a new meter fitted ,only for the fitter no to show on 2 occasions !. The adviser fed me a load of gobeldygook and basically told me I need to go to the ombudsman.

    - cynical, no [in time] factual
    - helpful yes - no one else even bothered to even try
    - 8 digits & 35 days is new to me, and I suppose most site regulars here
    - take me to the ombudsman too, you can even ask me for compensation

NOTE to the group .. .. "8 digits & 35 days", is worth remembering.

No Richie , I do appreciate you taking the time to answer and how much compensation am I likely to get from you ?
    thanks again
  • I switched back to SP from Npower earlier this year and encountered the same issue of SP's website wanting 8 digits for my electricity reading. After 3 calls I finally spoke to a Customer Service agent who knew what he was talking about : in my case, an 8 digit request was asking for an OPENING meter reading which neither I nor Customer Services could submit ! I asked for the issue to be escalated and was eventually transferred to someone in their back office who sorted the problem out there and then. Perhaps your problem is the same as mine was.

I'm not an apologist for SP but even with this issue they are far easier to deal with than Npower were !

    Hope this helps.
