iGO4 Cancellation Fees Within 14 Days of Renewal

I could do with some help right now.
I've had iGo4 Car insurance for a year. Mistakenly I didn't put a note of when is my renewal date so I received an email on the 22/09 saying thank you for renewing with us.
The new amount was £516.74 which is much higher than what I paid last year. Thinking of that I searched around and found an alternative for only £250.
As I knew that I had to pay £75 admin fees I was waiting till the 28th to get paid. So I called iGo4 today only to be told that I need to pay £215 pounds. I asked why but the agent told me he is unable to see the breakdown because the finance office is closed (Sunday) and that I will receive an email within 7 days with the full breakdown.
Since then I cancelled my direct debit because obviously I don't want to pay that amount as it seems completely unfair.
Any of you had a similar experience and how did you deal with it? Did you actually pay the amount?

If you do owe it, cancelling your dd won't save you.
They will pursue you for money you owe.
So get the charge itemised and pay what you owe and dispute any amount you don't agree0 -
Not wanting to pay it wont help you though.
If you dont cancel and settle the account then you may have issues with the no claims not being valid for the new insurer.
Just cancelling the payment will put you in arrears and possibly debt collectors and court action. Which will ruin your credit file.
Although you may not want to. You need to pay up and then put a complaint in.
Does seem excessive, But maybe a higher daily rate for such a short term?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I will wait to see what the charge is for and then proceed. Even the agent on the phone was a bit shocked and went to speak to his manager.0
