Friend cancelling Holiday.Am i covered?

Due to go away in 10 days time with a friend. A close relative of hers has had a stroke. The flights a restrictive so we can't get any sort of refund or even change the flight dates.
Obviously I don't want to go on my own. I do have Travel insurance with Natwest. The policy states I am covered if my close relative is ill. Can anyone help please? Its closed today

But it's not your relative that is ill.

What does your friend's policy say about cancellation for illness of a relative?

Why don't you still go on the holiday? I've been on a few holidays on my own and they're good to clear your head and fully relax with no schedules or compromises needed to be made for someone else?
  • This is the problem. This scenario is not in the policy under 'covered and not covered'.
    Wondered if anyone would know?
    thanks

Assuming this is your friend's policy?

It sounds like she's not covered.

Maybe worth contacting your insurer and asking if you can make a claim.

Who is lead passenger on the booking?

Usually the policy will cover you if your relative or a close relative of a person you are booked to travel with is ill.

    MSE Florida wedding .....no problem
  • Is it a joint booking or two separate bookings at the same time?

I've just had a look at the following and they don't include close relative of a travel companion but may cover if a travel companion cancels because of their illness though
    Axa
    InsureandGo
    MoreThan

Only the travel companions insurance would cover it

Yes, your travel insurer. Give them a call.
