Seriously broggers, I think you're doing exactly the right thing, now is not the time for making plans, but watching and waiting.
My granny (very wise woman) would always say to me "things are never as bad as they seem", usually when I was in the middle of some drama or crisis, and she was always right.
And keep posting, we miss you
:kisses:
Thank you so much Skinny and I absolutely know your Gran was right.......it's the uncertainty that can do one's head in. I would be OK-ish to relax a bit during the summer in the cicumstances but that is apparently not what is on the agenda for me
. I do refuse to 'foam at the mouth' looking for every little job but uncertainty does loom......for me.......for millions....that is what life is like and it always has been. Sorry if a hint of 'internal disharmony' is evident but.........may all change tomoz
......may not
!!
Thanks again for your words and for writing one of your classy posts on my thread again:p:p:p!!!!

Oh dear……..such a long time since I have posted
!!
I hope everybody is well and succeeding in beating the challenges which life throws at us.
My mind is toally occupied with work and job-related matters, well almost……..I made some wine from a kit and it is divine (hic) In fact, I got another kit and it’s bubbling away next to me now…….the cat is staring at the airlock, trying to work out if it represents some kind of threat………
Back to work……I am doing very little in terms of actual work and that will be the case for a good while yet and also explains why I was made rEdUnDaNt. My working life, whilst stressful at times had become a shallow farce over the last year or two. It was only my pension scheme membership that stopped me leaving……but that may now go……..that is occupying my mind too.
Whilst I would prefer to post on my diary regularly with little updates (like most people do) I do have something on my mind relating to work and earning a living which I must mention. Maybe some people will relate to this but I understand some people, for very good reason may not (they're the wise ones )
If I think about the things which made me get into debt and increase the damned mortgage, they were very much related to my work and a very out of date ‘ethos.’ In the 1990’s a director of the company I worked for said that the best way to stay motivated in the job was to get the biggest mortgage you possibly could . We all laughed (behind his back) but we did a bit of that too. I was concentrating on maximum business figures and looking good……and I wasn’t paying any attention to……… ‘the allocation of the ackers’…….that bit just didn’t seem important.
So……as my old world departs me and 2015 is a world away from the 90’s, I reflect now on the value of money and I am now focusing on analysing everything I do as I may happily volunteer to earn less for a better quality of life.
Cue the new spreadsheet……….under various headings such as ‘food,’ ‘cleaning,’ ‘diesel,’ ‘homebrew’ (yep) I am recording daily what I spend in each area. I have been doing this for a month and I am already learning. A while ago on somebody’s thread Ali-OK mentioned the idea of sort of practicing to retire…a sort of dry run……well I am moving towards that. Basically when I do retire (years away from now - if I get a job) I will damn well know how much it costs to live and maybe to enjoy a little too. It is absolutely criminal that I have not done this before…….I was too busy chasing the ‘big deal’ and qualifying for the high achievers’ forum. Thank the Lord the world has changed and caused me to have to get my @rse into gear .
We work to live…….If nobody minds I'll post my other 'Brogden-improvement' measures as we proceed  ! Please shout if I'm getting too boring (again)

Eh-up Broggers
Good to see you posting and hearing of happenings behind the scenes.
 to the home brew vino, used to do that myself back in the 90s (with my little mortgage of £37k) and then followed the crowd too...wasn't just bosses, my father said 'get the biggest mortgage and house you can as early as you can - it'll be the cheapest loan you ever have'. I can't say I agree with that now I'm assumed older and wiser
If nothing else, I found leaving corporate work instantly drops alot of outgoings - keeping up with colleagues rather than the Jones' I guess. From business suits, shoes, winter coats, handbags..ok so girly stuff there, to coffees, lunches and birthday, leaving, wedding, engagement and baby collections. And so much more...costs I've left behind. Sort of semi-retirement from an outgoings perspective
Working from home pushed up utilities but so does retirement. Activities...I think with the new garden, I'm heading for an enforced new hobbie providing I've got secateurs and a fork and spade :rotfl: It'll be free along with my composter and water butt contents.
You know under the Cleaning heading.... mine is mostly populated with 99p bottles of Stardrops - cleans everything
Hope that's a few more bits to throw into the pot, give a stir and see if there's anything to be taken from it.
Looking forward to reading more Brogden improvement measures, big thumbs up for thatBack on the DFW Wagon:

Broggers.
Couldn't agree more Brogden......Reminded me of a quote I like
"May you Live all the days of your life" (Jonathan Swift).
Its easy to get so bogged down in work and being busy that you don't have time to live ......says a guilty one.
PS this is all whispered (=opposite of shouting):)
