Although I've never experienced it myself, I know a few people who have been made redundant, and every single one says it was the best thing that happened after they got over the initial shock. They all went on to better things, are happier and in many cases better off.
Good luck with which ever way it swings xx
Yeah Skinny......its a bummer in the summerand thanks for the encouraging words presented in your ever classy style
!!
The reason you've never been made redundant is because you're indispensible!unlike some of us.......

Thanks INOD
I've been in these particular shackles for 15 years  !!
My creditors have just reached the half way mark with the binning of 'Sick Squid.' No P&F because they wanted to ask me a huge list of questions and I declined.......I mean......the colour of my panties is my business and my business only!!
You know I don't like talking about these lowly PDL's......I much prefer good honest respectable debt!!
Cheers m'dear,

Good morning Diary. I’m addressing my diary here in order that I am not self-indulgent in public
.
It is going to be a beautiful day I think after seriously heavy rain yesterday. I have not posted for a while and my ‘rhythm’ is rocked somewhat by the announcement of my redundancy……although something had to happen there…..things can only get just so pathetic before they cease to exist altogether. I am not bitter……I am trying to look at the wider picture and as I become more removed from the emotional side of things, I can see my employer as an almost benevelent organisation now paying me to do virtually nothing and if I fail or choose to not be redeployed will pay me off with a large sum.
I really, really am wondering about the wisdom of redeployment. Why should I strive hard to try to be successful in avoiding receipt a large sum of money?
Various demons and spooks are running through my head and the approach has to be to keep a very open mind on the whole scenario……I am trying to window shop and keen to not invest even 1p at the moment.
Slightly detached……pensive…….pondering…….there’s a reason for everything which I say but is the argument compelling? Do I have a ‘robust’ plan? No……do I b*ggery. Having said that……‘robust’ is a term for utterly worthless as far as I can see so maybe that’s a feather in the proverbial cap.
As my feeling of detachment becomes stronger I am ‘man-watching.’ I have previously spoken of my feelings on the nature of the ‘corporate person’ and I can see they are all at it. As I fade from the picture I see a group of people who are swearing that black is white. There is also a group of people who are swearing that red is green. Management instructions are being followed in the most ‘cap-doffed’ manner without thought or even hint of reasoning or debate.
I had better lighten this load of carp up before I hit the shower………IF a management instruction came down the line from on high to the effect…… ‘at noon on Fridays all staff must convene in the main entrance and perform the hokey kokey wearing nothing but a pair of deely boppers’ it would happen. Middle management would ‘buy in’ to the concept immediately and insist that junior management do the same. In the end everybody including the teaboy and the office cat would be doing it. The thing is….nobody would question it…….nobody would say ‘where is the customer benefit in this’ or ‘does this help the bottom line?’ nobody would even say ‘is this good for team building?’ No doubt it might be……but…….an order is an order……do it if you want to look good……..do a bit extra too and you might be favoured over Fred…….tell them it is a very positive initiative and how much you admire them for their ‘boldness’ and ‘innovation’…….stick on an extra deely bopper to impress the boss……………… one day we’ll all retire……..some of us get kicked out first……..:o :rotfl:!!
Oh…. the joy……gardening today…….have a lovely Friday peeps .

‘at noon on Fridays all staff must convene in the main entrance and perform the hokey kokey wearing nothing but a pair of deely boppers’ I think this sounds a lot of fun actually :rotfl:
Seriously broggers, I think you're doing exactly the right thing, now is not the time for making plans, but watching and waiting.
My granny (very wise woman) would always say to me "things are never as bad as they seem", usually when I was in the middle of some drama or crisis, and she was always right.
And keep posting, we miss you

Hey Brogden,
Just had a little catch up. I'm not going to say sorry to hear your news - I know its pants - but who would want to do the hokey kokey under orders at work at a fixed time when you can do it any time any place of your own free will in whatever colour panties you choose????? (and I'll join you;))
Seriously though, I took voluntary redundancy and despite where we are now it was the best thing that ever happened to me (may have mentioned this before). Garden leave sounds great, spend it in the garden and ponder some more.Everything does happen for a reason, whether you are aware of that reason or not at the time. All will come right in the end, because "When one door closes another door opens" (Alexander Graham Bell).
