Hi Brogden.
I've been reading and subscribed to a few diaries including yours, on here for the last couple of weeks and thought I'd pop on to wish you good luck on your journey
I saw you mention a few other diaries in similar situations and I already had 2 of those on my list, as they seemed to be similar situations to us (height of our unsecured debt was nearly £70k but that was 5 years ago now).
I'll keep popping back for a readHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55
If you focus on what you have left behind, you won't see what lies ahead - Gusteau0 -

Good Morning All
Well.....I completed my first day of envelope budgeting! I should have watched the you tube videos first though. Returning from the bank I suddenly realised you can't put £30 in an envelope if its all in twenties
Right......so I went back to the GnatsVest and got some tenners and duly stuffed the envelopes, wrote the day and date on each one, put them in date order and fastened them together with a bulldog clip having put my Friday £30 in my wallet. This had taken longer than I thought when I should have been workingWell, I thought I have lost so many work hours worrying about money and 'plugging holes,' if this makes for a more relaxed and productive Brogden then it must be in the shareholders' interest
so on we go.........!
By the time we got to teatime I checked the final daily requirements with Mrs. Brogden and after a trip to the 'open all hours' I had 40p left:) I'm happy and sad about that at the same time! Mrs Brogden had to pay for her own ticket on the Euromillions :rotfl:!!!!!!! Anyway....I finish the day within budget!
£30 may seem a lot for the day but it was a Friday with the bottle of wine for Mrs. B and some cans of strong lager for Brogden. Also it is seemingly my responsibility to buy Mrs. Brogden's ciggies (I gave up as part of my DMP efforts.) Add to the expenses bread, cheese, a peppercorn sauce mix to go with the 'freaky deakies' we had for tea, a bit of diesel and you can see where the money goes! I'm not worried or shocked......I knew we would hit the top of the budget on a Friday......its a bit early to say but at the moment I am feeling really good about my envelopes :T
I think today may be a bit easier and I have decided to put anything left from the day's envelope in a big glass jar in my office.....40p went in last nightI might have to buy a quieter container for my left over funds. I have used the jar for collecting funds before but the only way to get the coins out is by tipping it up and it makes such a racket. Hearing this Mrs. B and the DD's will start saying 'he's on his last penny again
' and take the mickey in such a cruel way.
Onward and upward......I have a little shopping list to start the day and I'll report in my finishing position this evening.
Saturday.......no work......bliss - enjoy it everyone

I lol'd most of the way through that ... FAB that you can see the envelopes working for you, told you so about the utube vids !! and:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: at the Mrs and kids making cruel jibes as you fish your last pennies out, wonder if they would snigger if it was for something for them ?? ..
Your doing fab I am going to start this 1st Nov too and got myself a jar for my leftover funds but I am going to use the left overs for something I don't know what yet but will think.
Enjoy your weekend xxWeightloss -36.5lb/64lb.
