Price guarantee - goods just gone into sale

Hi,

I'm hoping you all might be able to give me some good advice.
I bought some items on my Next store card two weeks ago. I have just seen that they have gone into the sale today at 50% off.
I'm annoyed as I haven't yet used the items nor have I paid the balance on my store card yet as it's not due for another two weeks.

Do I have any rights in terms of being able to get the goods at the sale price and not the full price that I paid?

Thanks in advance everyone :)

No rights I'm afraid, the contract has been completed when you have received the good and are happy with them. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

I'm assuming you bought the items in store and not online? What return policy does Next offer for the items that you bought? If they accept returns then you can return them and then re-buy at the sale price (assuming they have stock left).

They have to honour any return policy they offered at the point of sale because that is part of the contract, but they don't legally have to offer returns to customers and you have no legal rights to change your mind once the contract is concluded.

Its also quite likely that if they have a sale on then you would only get the value of the goods you are returning at the price they are being sold for now, in the sale.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I complained to Arg0S after they e-mailed me about a further £30 price reduction a week after purchase.

It was a non returnable item (new phone) so I e-mailed customer services and got offered a £10 voucher which I accepted.

Not the same situation but grrr feel for you. same has happened to me in the past, usually where I've bought something, long since lost the receipt and then its been reduced in price :-/ oh and don't remind me about the time I bought a dress one september (paid cash) lost receipt and didn't wear the dress till xmas day when I discovered a big hole in the stitching near the arm. When I returned to the store, was upset only to be offered £11 odd which was the current selling price. pft

If you have your receipt or delivery note they will refund the full price, as will most stores with a returns policy.
  • This question arises from time to time and someone usually asks - "if the price had increased, would you be running back to the shop offering to pay the extra?"

But I'm not going to ask that, 'cos it's a money saving site
  • I was surprised that wasn't asked earlier. It's refreshing that some sensible answers were given first.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to return for a full refund and then buy at the lower price. (providing that they are in stock, something that it would be best to check before actually returning the items).
    Returns With Receipts

We are happy to exchange or refund any item returned
in a saleable condition, in its original packaging with its receipt within 28 days* or for items purchased in a sale, within 15 days.

A refund will be issued by the original payment
method, to the value of the item printed on the receipt.

Not so, because you could have bought one at full price, then another one in the sale at half price, then taken the sale one back and used the full price receipt to get a refund of the higher price. That's why most shops have this policy when a sale is on. Common sense really

Which shops are you referring to McKneff? Next certainly is not one on them, nor are M&S, Boots or John Lewis.
