    Well, how about this scenario?:
You are in your early 30s.
A few years ago you defaulted on the card that you had with your bank, then got married.
The bank sold your debt to a debt collecting company that added their fees and now tracked you and started chasing.
What should i do next ?
Post on Debt-Free Wannabe board for a better advice, but make sure that this time your post makes more sense.
Instead of "in my 20's" and "in my maiden name" post when exactly the credit card account was closed and how.
Also have you ever had other debt besides the CC?
  • I'd probably start with a Prove it letter.

BTW. Is there an account number on the letter?
  • Associates was a credit card issued during the time in question, which was bought by Citibank some years later. Citibank use Cabot to recover = where we are today.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

Did it give any details? How long ago was it? If it is more than six years then unless you admit it it is statute barred.
  • Seems like Cabot are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I had one yesterday. They say i can settle it for 10% of the sum in question.

Thats very nice of them but i have made settlement offers and payments already and have no idea why they are sending me begging letters.

In 2 minds here whether to ignore them or have some fun. It was close to being statute barred when i made the settlement payments. That was a few years ago now also. So well over 8 years.
