Littlewoods/Yodel Non-Delivery. Forged Signature?

Hi guys,

I'm currently having problems with Littlewoods for an order I placed just over a week ago. They are claiming the order has been delivered and signed for at my address despite no one being home.

I tried contacting Yodel the very same evening as I had a message on my phone saying my parcel had been delivered. After failing to get through to them (couldn't get past the automated system of reading out the tracking #) I contacted Littlewoods who said they would investigate.

Days pass with them telling me they will contact me as soon as they hear from the courier. Finally they tell me the courier has told them they received a signature from my address and that they want a copy of my passport/drivers license sent to them to confirm this.

In response I ask for information on who exactly signed for the parcel along with a copy of the signature and that I don't fancy sending out sensitive documents, be it a copy or not.

The response to that ignored my questions and simply asked for copies of my passport or drivers license again which to me seems odd as I really don't how that would prove anything. If I was to send these details I would want to see the supposed signature they have received first as it seems very suspect to me.

Anyway, my question is does anyone know if Littlewoods will resolve this amicably or am I better of contacting bank and filing a claim?

I ask as there seems to many cases of this with these companies and I even had the same issue with an order from Amazon (using Yodel) a year or so back but their customer service is diamond and I was reimbursed within days of the issue. The same can't be said with Littlewoods from what I can tell so i'm concerned to say the least.

Thanks :)

They are asking for your driving license as your signature is on it - unless you still have your old paper one (I can't recall how, if any signature is present on that).

If you blank out certain parts of your driving license such as the number you should have no particular risk in providing the information they have asked you for.
  • Yes i'm aware that they want to see my signature but I don't see why I should send out copies of sensitive documents when they won't even give me information on who they claim to have signed for it or a copy of the signature they have received.

As said, mask out anything you consider sensitive beyond what they already know about you anyway, the passport number of driving license number for example.

If they show you it first how exactly does that prove you didn't sign for it? Are they just to take your word for it?

By the same token, what's to stop an unscrupulous company forging the required signature once they have a copy in their possession?

It proves nothing to them but to me that the courier is lying about the delivery. Currently they are telling me the courier is saying someone signed for it but they can't tell me who or show me the signature left. How hard can it be to pass on that information?

I've asked for contact details for the courier company as well as I cannot get through via there normal number and they won't help with that either.

Instead i'm asked to send a picture of my passport with signature so they can say that the signatures match? Unlike them I can't change the signature on my documents so i'd rather not send them until at least i'm given the information they claim to have.

Exactly my thinking. I've seen a few of these stories via this website alone and it does not paint Littlewoods in a good light..
  • The passport/driving license is a common step for order trace. You see they will have a signature from Yodel. They want to confirm its not yours. They have some rule about not sending signatures out but its evading me at the moment. As when I was there the track and trace team would have had the driver interviewed and such. So theyre believing you just they need to see proof.

When you next speak to them. Ask them if they have had geo tracking from Yodel (that is the unit the driver carries giving his gps position when he says "signed for" etc

The signature they take is electronic - they can't forge it unless they replace it. That's fraud and a whole different ball game to providing a copy of a passport or driving license with the sensitive information blanked out - Yodel and Very will deal with this situation regularly with recipients claiming no receipt frequently.

As for the OP calling the courier...You have no contract with the courier, they don't have to speak to you, its Very's problem and Very have to deal with it. As you have no contract with Yodel they won't share the signature with you directly. Very are asking for your information so they can compare it with what Yodel provide them with.

Your bank will not be supportive of you either if they find you have not provided basic documentation to the retailer on request.

You want it resolved but are causing the problems, as far as they are concerned it's delivered, your move next.

You say that as if what I've asked from them is unreasonable.

Anyway, i've sent them a copy of my drivers licence now so i'll see how that pans out.
  • It is unreasonable, and possibly unlawful. You have claimed that the signature is not yours therefore you have no legal right to see it.

If someone had taken fraudulently transferred money out of your bank account, do you think you'd be entitled to have all the information about the account it was transferred into and who opened it?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
