Charities Knocking on Doors

I am sick to death of charities knocking on my door asking for money.
Cancer Research are the worst for this.
They have just had someone knock on my door, asking for money.
I firmly believe that they should not be allowed to do this.
Yes, I know I can say no and close the door but many many people, old folk especially, will not feel as though they can say no.
Charities should let people donate if they want to and not pressure them by standing on the doorstep pleading for the cause.

I live near a 'student area' and the number in the last 2 weeks (now that the students are back) has gone to daily and sometimes more than 1 different one per day too. Over the Summer, one or 2 per month.0

If you look in the charity commission website you will find a link to licenses given for doorstep collections. Look up your area, it appears by month and shows which charities are okay to collect.
If they don't have a license then complain to the charity, your local council and the commission. If they do have a licence but it's getting out of hand ditto.
About a year ago I got sick to death of answering the door to one particular charity at least twice a month, looked it up to discover they weren't even licensed in my area. It turned out the charity in question had employed a third party company to do the job, and evidentally they were doing the easiest areas.

I think this only applies to actually collecting cash.
Pestering for direct debits isn't classed as collecting.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Prefer charities to Jehovah's...!0

You could put a sign up near your door that says you don't deal with uninvited callers and asking them not to knock - most will respect it and not knock. If some still do, open the door, point to the sign then close the door again...job done.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
