You're right, there is nothing to stop you posting a note through the seller's door yourself, but lets be honest, how many of us would? And, if you end up making a few offers, are you going to keep posting notes through the seller's door? offerregister.co.uk makes the process of verifying what the estate agent is up to much easier and quicker for both a buyer and the seller, plus it provides a verifiable record of offers made that is independent of the estate agent's records.

Hey that's spooky murrayd, you're based in Fareham and so are offerregister!

(Edit: Ah right. I've just noticed your home page.)

Personally I would use neither offerregister.co.uk nor post. But if I ever were minded to inform a vendor of my offer, I'd either just pop a note through the door, or knock on the door, or use Royal Mail. Sounds fairly straighforward to me. I certainly wouldn't need to ask somebody else to do the job for me.

Well how would I have played it?

    1) I would have wanted to see my own offer in writing for a start. I know many agents do not comply with this, but Id want this before increasing offers. You can always ask the EA to attach it to an email or fax it to you.

    2) I would always have a set amount that I am willing to pay in my head. if my budget is 200k I will not go to 201,500. I have a budget for a reason, its what I can afford its what I feel comfortable with! Funnily enough a similar thing happened with an MSEr who was putting an offer in my area. She offered one figure and the EA said that there was another higher offer - she aid, Oh, we cant afford it then, we dont have the extra- she stuck firm and stuck to her guns abd walked away. Guess waht the flat is still on the market.

SO in short, if it was money i couldnt afford to spend, Id simply walk away.

i am not someone who gets put under pressure to spend money easily either, there are a lot of moths in my purse ;)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Exactly the same thing happened to us with a house we offered on. Funny that.
    Been away for a while.
