Norton - I didn't believe it

If you got any McAfee i would get rid of that as well as that hogs your computer as well .
Only reason I stuck with McAfee for so long was because I get it free, and I still find it's not worth having in comparison to others.
Paying for NOD32 is much better than McAfee for free. Free alternatives AVG and Avast are better than McAfee as well in my experience"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I use Trend internet security you can use it on 3 pc's and comes with AV, firewall, spam filter I find it much better than Norton and not as resource hungry0

I have also used Trend for several years and although not the cheapest I have never had any virus or spyware problems on any of my computers.
The latest 2007 version is very comprehensive and user friendly.
I have used NO antivirus software for 3 years and have had precisely NO infections. Viruses are a myth to con money out of you. just use free online scanners if u want to check for a virus. dont be fooled into the whole virus conspiracy theory0 -
Ever heard the phrase "Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted"? You are one click/email away from infection, you may be crawling in rootkit's without knowing it. If you really haven't been infected, you are just lucky, but one day that luck will run out.
They do exist, people do get infected, people do lose data, people do have to re-install the O/S sometimes, people do have to deal with the consequences of keyloggers, and phishing. It doesn't matter how careful you are, the risk is always there.
If you are so confident they are a consipiracy, install the original version of XP on a PC without a firewall, and connect to the internet using a BB usb modem, and wait a few minutes..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
NOD32 from www.eset.com is an excellent lightweight AV app. Annual subscription but it's dirt cheap and consistently comes out top in the Virus Bulletin tests.
Yes, I completely agree. NOD32 is the best anti-virus out there by far. I don't want to sound like a geek or otherwise, but I have a lot of experience with computers including those running Windows and Linux. I would like to say NOD32 simply cannot be beaten on speed, and overall security. I have previously had Norton and trust me - it is indeed a nightmare.
Don't trust anyone who suggests Norton has 'improved' its software and has suddenly become on 'par' with NOD32. Nothing can beat Eset's software.
By the way. No, I don't work for Eset.
I'm just a lazy student with too much time on my hands to test all these programmes on my many computers. I do this to not only save people some money, but to also make people more aware of what's better for their computer systems.0 -

If they're a myth why do you even use online scanners. I know for a fact they aren't because of the infected systems I've had to deal with. Mine included. The worst one, I remember a few years ago when I got the blaster worm that crippled my system and I had to do a complete reinstall. Now your statement could only possible be true if I'm a liar. So which is it are you wrong or am I (along with many others) a liar?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I did that recently after a fresh install, just visiting driver and security sites to reinstall stuff, thought I'd be probably ok. But sure enough I got something after just a few minutes which used up all the bandwidth on the pc (even when idle) to such an extent it crippled the network connections of all the other pcs. The virus kept opening lots of instances of the same process. Found the files in the system (really were infected files that weren't meant to be there) and managed to get rid of them.
I can only presume that mascherano would have to say I imagined all of that in order to reconcile it with his earlier statement."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

yes, you made it all up. it doesnt even sound half true. Just kidding. I know viruses are 'out there' but admit it, you have to be INCREDIBLY stupid or naiive to get one. I use limewire and torrents daily, have done for years- and no infections yet. I can spot a fake file a mile off0
