Credit Damage - Do i have a case

Hi,

I recently had a mortgage rejected because of a recent missed payment to NEXT directory. I received an email at 10:44pm to inform me that payment was due that day or I would be charged and creditors informed. I made the payment first thing the following morning. The payment was for eleven pounds, and subsequently this inadvertent mishap (the only one in 12 months) has prevented me from securing a mortgage. Do I have a case against NEXT in that their notification to me was so late in the day? At present, they have been unwilling to ammend the information passed on to the creditors.
Unfortunately, this was my only mortgage opportunity, as I worked on a fixed term contract and this was the only lender willing to work on this basis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Next have reported something factually correct.

What do you think the answer to this is? I'm taking a large bet it will be no.

Can you prove you've been rejected for this reason? If not, then still no case, but it may not be the adverse info.

  • I very much doubt 1 late payment has been the reason for rejection

Why leave it so late to pay it ?

Why not have a direct debit set up ?

It is a truthful account of how you run your finances.

And they obviously considered your application and declined it at the current time. Little point in throwing mud in all directions in case some of it sticks.
