Credit Damage - Do i have a case

Hi,
I recently had a mortgage rejected because of a recent missed payment to NEXT directory. I received an email at 10:44pm to inform me that payment was due that day or I would be charged and creditors informed. I made the payment first thing the following morning. The payment was for eleven pounds, and subsequently this inadvertent mishap (the only one in 12 months) has prevented me from securing a mortgage. Do I have a case against NEXT in that their notification to me was so late in the day? At present, they have been unwilling to ammend the information passed on to the creditors.
Unfortunately, this was my only mortgage opportunity, as I worked on a fixed term contract and this was the only lender willing to work on this basis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do their terms say about making payments, receiving statements etc?0

Was this the very first notification of payment being required?
I don't know what "NEXT directory" is, but I presume it's some sort of catalogue and that payment terms work like a credit card.
Don't they send you statements (either on paper or electronically) that tell you what you need to pay and when?0 -
I don't think you'll have much of a case. You'll have received a statement, much like a credit card, about a couple of weeks before the payment was due. If you didn't pay on time, it's hardly their fault.
When you received the notification that the payment was late, couldn't you have paid it online straight away instead of waiting until the morning ?0 -
Can you link the mortgage rejection to the missed payment with 100% certainty or could there be another reason?0

If you are on a fixed term contract then finding a mortgage is going to be very difficult.
I'm also intrigued that OP has not had any late payment markers for 12 months but what about previously?
Unless the lender will specify the reason why the mortgage was declined OP will not get anywhere with this.0 -

Assuming a statement was issued weeks earlier the OP will get nowhere.0 -

You have no case. NEXT send out statements every month and tell you when you have to pay by and how much. No mortgage lender would reject you for one late payment.
Set up a direct debit to pay off your NEXT account automatically each month.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
