We are going on our first cruise (not sure if it is us, but you have to try!) We are visiting Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Are euros acceptable, if not will we have to have local currency?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Denmark possibly - prices for some touristy stuff is advertised in EUR as well as DKK. Sweden and Norway almost certainly not. Never seen a price for anything in EUR in Sweden. Norway I'd imagine will be the same, though not been there since the EUR, but since they're not even in the EU nor are anywhere near any EUR country it's doubtful.0

These countries all have their own currencies, just like the UK
Would your corner shop or local pub accept Euros?0 -
You can pay by card for even small items. If it's a cruise all your food will be provided and you wont need to spend much more
I Stockholm look into buying the 'Stockholm Card' which gives you 24 hours travel on all buses and trams and 'free' entry into most museums including the Vasa and the Royal Palace, oh, and the hop-on-hop-off bus tour. I think just the bus tour and the Vasa pays for the card and everything else is a bonus. Also the Skanda open air museum is very good if you are a bit fed up with cities. It's a collection of old buildings from the countryside and Arctic animals.
If you go to Copenhagen then you can hire a bike for £7 for 4 hours I think and there is a bike tour in English for an extra £10 which lasts about 3 hours - or longer it depends on the chap who does it. Starts at 11am. Well worth it as you go everywhere and it is totally flat and safe. The hire shop is found if you go from the ship past the little mermaid and keep going for about 15 mins walk along the water side. When you can't go any further it's on the opposite side of the river/canal on the corner. Just go in a bit and over the bridge. I found the address: On the corner of Havnegade and Nyhavn
These ways are much cheaper than the ships tours

None of these countries have the Euro as their currency. Therefore trying to spend in Euros is almost certainly a poor idea. Unless it's a clever plan to reduce spending to zero. You should also familiarise yourself with the currency on board the ship.
Research Halifax Clarity Credit Card and Kalixa prepay card amongst others.

I'd be pretty confident that you can adjust to the joys of a cruise.0 -

My local pub accepts Euros but at the most shocking rate you have ever seen.
However, in Denmark, Norway and Sweden I would certainly use the local currency. Just get a good overseas credit/debit card to withdraw cash as you need it. You'll need to withdraw lots as they are all expensive countries, especially for drinking.0 -
Thank you for your replies.
Just returned from the cruise and enjoyed it. I was able to use euros in all 3 countries.0 -
