thanks but how can I know it's a traditional torque converter automatic

Ask the dealer. Honestly, you'd never confuse a proper automatic with an electo-magnetic clutch semi automatic after having a short test drive. The former is smooth and easy, the latter is jerky and horrible.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

When driven within their limitations: no crawling in traffic/low speed manoeuvring/repeated stop-starts, they are fine and suit people who are unable to operate a clutch.

No good for me as I spend half an hour a day crawling in traffic queues, I doubt if the automated clutch would last very long.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'm 95% sure the Fiesta were proper torque converter automatics. Something you need to check out.

  • I got a Corsa C 1.2 with easytronic. Its fine. Just over 115,000 miles and the car broken down once. Yes it was the gearbox but it was only the computer part and its two bolts a plug to remove and rebuild costs £150.

Other than that cheap and reliable car.

So not all of them are bad. I also got a Honda Civic same age (2004) with CVT gearbox and its lovely to drive.

If you look after your cars they usually look after you. Most people sadly don't make the effort to maintain their cars.

I saw the fiesta and got disappointed. It doesn't feel robust and reliable. I think I will go for a polo of around 2003

do polos of that age have proper torque converter?

    hello!

I have read that Corsa Easytronic is an automatic car that is actually a manual with an automatic addon, so it consumes the same fuel as the manual
I am talking about 2004- models
are all automatic Corsas of that age, easytronic or there are other automatic corsas as well?
    thanks!

I haven't read through all the thread so others may have already said the same.... the Corsa Easytronic is an appalling car to drive. I have driven a fair few cräp cars in 35 years of driving and a Corsa Easytronic was probably the very worst of them.

    Find something else... anything else.

As far as i know yes.

Only the very early mk2 Fiestas had a CVT box.

The most recent Fiestas have gone to a Powershift which is a double clutch box.

With a 2003 Polo the gearbox will be the least of your worries.

But i believe it has a traditional auto.

Though i would personally go for an early Prius they are robust, avoid ex minicabs and taxis, and despite what people said the batteries last well, 300k+ in many cases.
