"Toyota Yaris 1.0lt 2004" will have their MMT (Multimode Transmission) which is similar to the Vauxhall offering and an automated manual 'box.
Don't even think about it. I've had an MMT (Yaris Diesel) and it was absolutely awful.
A car of that age must be heading, if not already has, for very expensive failure(s) to the automated side of the gearbox!
"automatics will say shiftlock location in the event of an emergency is located under this blanking panel! next to the stick."
Yes, the Yaris has a hole through which to poke a screwdriver or similar to release the transmission lock.0 -
The small Korean cars (Hyundai & Kia) have proper torque converter auto boxes. My wife's (new) Picanto is a lovely little car to drive and the auto box is very smooth. At just over £11K it wasn't expensive, either. Fuel consumption is not great, tbh, (around 45 mpg) and the fuel tank is too small, but she doesn't do a high mileage. Unless you do a high mileage or a lot of motorway driving, I would recommend either the Kia Picanto or its sister, the Hyundai i10.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Ford Fiesta 2004 automatic?0

If you want a small automatic then follow these rules:
(1) Buy something Japanese or Korean
(2) Make sure it's a traditional torque converter automatic (exceptions: CVT Jazz and Prius)
(3) Avoid i-Shifts and automated manuals
(4) Make sure it's a 4 or 5 speed automatic box. Avoid 6/7/8 speeds
(5) After Asian cars buy something European avoiding anything French or Italian
(6) Avoid anything French or Italian
(7) Avoid anything French or Italian
(8) ... you get the ideaThe man without a signature.0 -
thanks but how can I know it's a traditional torque converter automatic0

If it drives like you're operating the throttle, but your mate is operating the clutch badly with his leg in plaster, then its an automated manual.
A torque converter clutch is infinitely smooth, with seamless changes on gentle throttle, and there should be slight 'creep' on the transmission, enough that you can manoeuver without touching the throttle at all.0 -

Why thankyou kind sir...:A
What i forgot to mention was that another mate, one who's had a shandy too many and suffering from sleep apnoea is changing the gears on the automated manual at same time as your other mate with the gammy leg is operating the clutch.
Why anyone would want one these things in a car is beyond me, i've driven hundreds of thousands of miles in lorries with the things, and the only time they are in the right gear is when you override the box and drive in manual mode...Volvo excepted here, a brilliant box programmed perfectly and works well with Volvo's engines.0
