New Home garage Single brick thickness

Speaking to the builder of our new house, they said the garage was single brick thickness and could not guarantee to be waterproof if bad weather. Has anyone came across this before?
He mentioned that you can buy sealant and coat the walls which would create a waterproof seal, I assume this would need to be updated periodically - potentially every year, can anyone recommend a sealant and (Going to sound thick here) does it go on outside or inside of wall?

What kind of roof is he putting on? Does it overhang the wall?
Unless the wall is very exposed to driving rain coming at it from an angle? you might not have any problem.
Detached garage or part of house?
I sealed the inside of mine with masonry paint ( white) to keep the spiders away and reflect the lighting inside0 -
The garage on my last brand new house was single brick construction except where it was attached to the house.
And plenty of water and cold air could get around the sides and bottom of the garage door."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I was hoping to put my Tumble dryer in there as it will have power, also a lot of other stuff to store I would rather did not get wet.0 -
So at worst, in extreme weather with rain driving against the extrnal wall, the brickwork will get damp, and, in very extreme cases, the damp may penetrate through to the internal side of the wall.
And the problem is? Presumably the car inside is.... errr.... waterproof?
The damp wall will dry out in not too much time, especially if the garage in not airtight and has ventilation (most have gaps under garage doors etc).
It's really not a problem.
But if you want, go to B&Q, find a tine of clear or coloured brick paint and read the instructions!
edit - make sure the wall is dry when you paint it or you'll just seal in the damp......0 -

We had a washing machine, tumble drier and chest freezer in the garage. We just kept them on the rear wall, away from the main door. Water ingress was confined to the base and sides of the up and over door. The rear door was a normal type door and fully weatherproof.
Make sure you protect water pipes from freezing in winter."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
