I'll be out of this market perhaps for anything upto a year. If I'm wrong then I might have missed out on an average of 5% gain, if I'm right, then I'll make a much bigger gain.

Just to add, I will dip in and out of the market if I see opportunities. For example, I bought £65k of Tesco shares two days ago as I felt they had hit bottom. I'm £3800 up in two days, which is a nice quick profit. I'll probably hold unil Friday and then revew whether to hold longer if it looks like they will continue to rise.

You really do have all the luck, don't you!

Always there to tell us you invested at the right time....after the event....when the upswing has happened.

Never tell us you have just invested BEFORE the upswing.

You can bet your bottom dollar, if Royal Mail see an 40% increase in it's shares, you'll have invested in them just hours before the surge....

This isn't aimed at you RM.

Graham if you think that is bad, what about geneer, he came out with an astonishing claim that he had bought a house a few years earlier (obviously near the bottom of the market). Despite spending month upon month (if not years) telling us how bad an investment buying a house was, as well as spending hours preparing cartoons to demonstrate his points.

On the same theme, I recently stuck my last few (liquid) grand in the ftse, just to watch it slump further (damn), so it looks like my short term strategy becomes a longer term one (in reality it was a long term thing anyway).

Well I was actually taking to generali, but you had to jump in...

Interestingly enough, I invested in Royal Mail when they were first offered to the public and made a tidy profit, but that's a different story.

Here is a screenshot of my dealing account. Next time I invest should I clear it with you first?

Fair play - first time you've come to the table with hard fast evidence!

When has anyone doubted me before for me to have to provide evidence?

You might even get an apology.

I dout it, he couldn't bring himself to apologise for calling me a liar with the Tesco shares, all he did was try and throw some more mud at me.

I'll be interested to see if he comes back with any proof himself to support his claim. I think I'll be waiting a long time.

I didn't really doubt you because you had already previously said that you were moving out of funds into cash. I know from your posting history that your attitude to risk isn't really aligned to holding mainly cash, and that may be too tame and possibly be frustrating to you, so I can easily see that you would be tempted to divert some of that cash into an opportunity in shares, it suits your attitude to risk much more than holding just cash. I too can struggle to be bearish at times, but I try and force myself to de-risk more these days.

No need to milk it. I stated "fair play" and am happy to apologise if you feel you need it.

You've proven me wrong - what more you want? :)
