Help cannot find where this should go

Sorry if I have placed this in the wrong place, I just looked for john lewis and hoped it was the right place! I purchased a leather jacket from john lewis on line at the end of May 2014, I tried it on it fit so put away on its hanger in my wardrobe until now, just went to to take out yesterday and noticed the lining was not stitched, I therefore emailed john lewis on line to explain and to say i needed to return it.

I have received an email to say they cannot accept it back after 90 days! but this item has not been worn, has the labels still attached, what do I need to do ? I cannot keep an item that is clearly faulty.

Yes maybe I should have checked the jacket through before placing in my wardrobe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt there is anything you can do as it is outside their 90 day policy.
They have a policy for a reason, maybe they don't even sell the jacket anymore and you wouldn't get a refund after 4 months.

If it was that "clearly faulty" then surely YOU would/should have noticed.

If you have been advised already then surely there was no need to post asking for advise?

If it was faulty when purchased, you had 90 days to return it and you didnt.

The 90 days is only for change of mind returns.

If faulty then that is different, however you should still have inspected the goods on receipt. But you should be able to return within six months easily, see http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange?_ga=1.237641536.1375605428.1393931493#faulty

However you are not entitled to a full refund, they just need to replace or repair.

So basically explain the jacket is faulty and as you didn't wear it over the summer you hadn't seen the fault.
Ask what they are going to do about it. Don't just ask for a refund as you may not get it. But if you aren't happy with the resolution they give you, ask again or specify what you want (repair at your tailor, repair by them, replacement, credit note).

You didn't need 2 threads for this.

My response over there echoes mostly what jon says above. I have linked to the Trading Standards explanation of the Law, and my response is factually-correct.

Sarah's replies are factually-INcorrect ... JL policy does NOT supersede the Law.

Thanks Bod, John Lewis collected the jacket and refunded me in full with no problem.

Sarah I had received the advice after posting you replied after I had the answer!
