Sorry if I have placed this in the wrong place, I just looked for john lewis and hoped it was the right place! I purchased a leather jacket from john lewis on line at the end of May 2014, I tried it on it fit so put away on its hanger in my wardrobe until now, just went to to take out yesterday and noticed the lining was not stitched, I therefore emailed john lewis on line to explain and to say i needed to return it.
I have received an email to say they cannot accept it back after 90 days! but this item has not been worn, has the labels still attached, what do I need to do ? I cannot keep an item that is clearly faulty.
Yes maybe I should have checked the jacket through before placing in my wardrobe.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Within 6 months you can return an item for a remedy (repair, replace, refund) and the seller must prove the fault was caused by the consumer rather than being inherent (present at the time of sale but not apparent) if they wish to avoid giving a remedy. After 6 months the onus may shift to the consumer (if the seller so decides) to prove that the fault WAS inherent.
So JL policy is irrelevant; their T&Cs do NOT superseded the Law.0 -

Given the length of time you have had it you will probably be considered to have accepted the goods, normally it happens within a week or so.
Once you have accepted the goods you can simply return them as faulty and it is then down to the retailer to decide if they want to refund, repair or replace the item. Even if they refund they can deduct an amount to represent the use you should have gotten of the item in the time you;ve had it.
It sounds a fairly simple case of them either not picking up on it being faulty or you talking about having a refund.
Take it back to a john lewis with a copy of your proof of purchase and speak to them in store. They will then decide the best course of action and it'll be easier for them to see the condition the jacket is still in.0
