One has to remember that spending is significantly higher in NI. One also has to remember NI is subsidised to the tune of £10 billion a year.

The average rates bill is actually less than £800. The England and Wales average is £1450.

We will see water charges in less than 3 years.

OK, I'm going to take you up on your bet.

One has to remember that wages in the mainland and the ROI are significantly higher than NI.

Probably not a reason to get free water.

Farmers have to pay for water, yet during the frosts in 2010, householders were advised to leave a tap running - at no cost.

Charges are coming, as are dry toilets.

  • As NI Water is essentially run like a company, though very poorly, I can actually see it being flogged off like the rest of the UK in a period of time...... Then the charges will be out of the politicians hands !!

They've got ofwat over there, which is supposed to prevent over charging.

I'm going to go for rain water harvesting - heaven will provide.

You'll not need to worry as you'll have a nice free house at that point.
